There are still a few items incomplete with the server switch over.
- DNS (Domain Name Resolution) is not working or is spotty at best for some of the domains and especially kitmaker.net and all mail (MX) settings.
- MX settings affect email getting delivered from the site or to any staff, etc. so email is also spotty or non-functional for most of us. I believe that new user registration emails were going out earlier but that may have changed as well.
- Gallery will be back up when DNS name changes occur for photos.kitmaker.net
- Support Center is down completly until I have time to install
- Forum functions are turned off (latest posts on main forum page) until I can sort out a bug there that the new server does not like
On the good news front...
We are back to running on two different servers. I installed the ad serving portion of the site to a seperate virtual dedicated server last night so ads should not slow the site down in the least.
Cheers,
Jim

Glad I'm not the one having to do the switch.
Hey Jim, why not just call the Geek Squad from Best Buys? That's what I'd do. :-)

Great news Jim. As always keep up the great work. I can see it's already working faster than it was after the server change. I'm not sure it's quite up to the speed it was before the change, but I'm sure it will get there.

Hi Jim.
Thanks for all the hard work your putting into this great site.
Excuse my ignorance, but what does this mean in laymans terms? Any idea what sort of time frame for the gallery being back up and running?

DNS stands for Domain Name Server / System / Service. All it does is just translate the domain name kitmaker.net into an IP address which is what all servers and clients on the internet are assigned with. Sorta like an identity number.
When jim swapped to a new server, it would have been given a new IP address so the domain name now has to be updated to the new IP address. This process normally takes between days to a week. Thats only because all nodes on the internet needs to have this updated as well.
To see this in action, just open up a command prompt and ping www.armorama.com. The subsequent IP address is resolved through your ISP's DNS.
Jim: I noticed the "my account" section doesnt load completely. Im guessing this fault is somewhat related to the Forums "Last Post" column? Thanks for the update and good luck with the remainder of the transition.
