Greetings,
I know this is the RC group, but can someone help me locate a source for the small electric motors used by Tamiya in their 1:35 scale motorized armor. I picked up a vintage Tamiya twin motorized M-42 model but both motors were missing. Will also need one gear piece.

All I can see on these vintage motors is the name Taiwan, no real numbers for codes. Anyone know the specs on these units?

Anyone know a source for these motors or have an unused one they can part with?

I have two motors and gearing sets that came with the old 1/25 scale Tamiya Panther and Academy Jagdpanther kits. They are yours if you think they would be of use to you. I may have one from the old 1/35 Tamiya Panther A if I do some digging but not positive.

IIRC correctly, Tamiya motors were simple Mabuchi ones like this RE-260

Thanks for the info so far.
I looked at the link to the RE260 Cermag motor and it says

SPECS: Voltage range: 1.5-3V
Nominal voltage: 3V.

The model uses four 1.5V batteries. Is this still the correct motor?

Lets see what else turns up. I appreciate the offer and will get back to you.

I've put 6 - 9 volts to those motors before ... they're not pulling any amps and it's just low voltage DC so those motors are perfect.

Besides 2 motors sharing 6 volts is the normal operation and you're only going to use one track once in a while to turn with.

Just an FYI, the second url third item down on the left is for the 1/48 scale tanks, the 'cassette' gearbox.

Thanks again all!

The RC260 looks to be the item and is reasonably priced. I won't bother anyone to mail me their unused motors. Thanks anyway!

I found another Tamiya model with the motor in the original box and it was an RC26 3V. So it think I'll just order a few.

Thanks again all!!
