I finally got the photos uploaded here on Armorama gallery and the right size. This is the Italeri M923 Big Foot kit that I built into the M923A2 Fueler. I used the Pro Arts fuel tanks and Tank Workshop wheels and fuel tank for the conversion to A2. I still have the rest of the paint, markings and weathering to do. This is my entry in the Move It Campaign.

Always good to see your builds Dave. I have this same kit with the same conversion but I just can't find the time to do the build. Do keep us posted on the development of your build & I might get motivated to do mine.

This looks really cool.

What is the orange light for? Is it supposed to be the NTC "kill light" for vehicles?

Is the tarp just a kit part?

First Thanks for the kind words.
I use drafting tape to make the tie down straps.

Nice conversion Dave. Looking at the rear is all the hoses, pumps etc scratch built. Just curious.

Hi Keenan, the pumps are part of the Pro Arts Resin set. The hoses are scratched using plastic coated wire.

I like it Dave! I don't have/know about that conversion set - but have been curious about it. Were you able to take some in-progress shots of the AM items being mated to the Italeri kit?

Sorry Jim I did not take any photos of the build process. I have another kit here. If I get the time I will build it and take photos of the process.

No, MILES "whoopie lights" are smaller. That is the RAWLS or Rotating Amber Warning Light System. It is a requirement for vehicles operating in USAREUR. Similar to any orange warning light you might find on a civilian tow truck in the states. The big ones like he has on this model were not very good. The had a pair of lights inside that rotated on a turntable inside. The bubble was just a big plastic thing. The newer types were strobe lights that were smaller and sturdier.

I agree with what Robin said.

Also it can depend on the state, post or unit regulations or SOP as far as fitment of a RAWLS. Some if not all vehicles assigned to a maintenance section would typically have the "whoopie lights" on them.

As far as vehicles in USAEUR having them, I can attest that the ones in my section didn't.......Our LT and PLTSGT argued that the lights interfered with the operation of the PADS, and since nobody outside of the Survey Section knew the workings of the PADS, they OK'd us not to have the lights.......We just had to drape a VS-17 panel over the back, and use the large delineators
