I got a reference book that has photos of american / german / etc. armour that was in development but was cancelled due to the war ending. You should see some of this stuff. There was one tank, American I think that was in the range of 130-150 tonnes!! I think that would be an interesting concept for a model contest. What do you think Jim? Can you imagine the amount of scratch building :-) And the great thing is anything could go, within reason of course no hovertanks or anything like that #:-)

Anyways just a thought.

Kind of like calling the Leopard the PzKpfw VII? Sounds like a neat idea.

Yeah, the Panzer 46 thing is fun.

DML has gone to that well quite a bit.
Maus, E-100, Panther II, Panther F, Kugleblitz, Night fighting Panther ( sort of a -46' project)
night fighting troops.
Others have done loads too UHU's MB, Verlinden, R&J , Tiger II May turrets and the Flakmaus/Flak E100 turret (CMD) , all the Real models Panther Flak and Morser, New connection does loads of Pz IV turrets and a Falke (IR APC) that I can't get my hands on. The list is endless..

I've actually built / finished a Panther II and F and the 3-set IR panther and did a poor job on a Maus. several other projects are on the 'to-do' list.

In the Squadron-Signal book Tank Destroyers in Action in the M18 hellcat section, there's 2 pics of an M18 with the turret of the 90mm M36 tank destroyer turret They had to put the muzzle brake on the 90mm to lessen the recoil If the invasion of Japan would've gone on ahead they were supposed to have gone into production Now wouldn't that have been neat seeing that in action?

hey guys, post what you build, if you think the germans would use a hover tank to better traverse and fight across the louisianna bayou, go for it. build and post. i think thats the US would shift to the T51 90mm CANNON on the PERSHING to deal with the MUAS and LOWE tanks the germans were getting ready to produce. hence the nice resin conversion i posted earlier. stug

Only problem with buying anything outside of Canada is I end up paying MORE than I would here. How much could you find one for? Are you stationed in Japan? I'm stating to like this Maus project. Definatly have to add on some "modern" things to it though :-)

Are you thinking of anything in particular?

regarding a more modern Maus

Someone did a Panther II (F?) for AMPS with a melding of the features of an early Leopard , overall dark green paint, and early NATO style markings.
I especially recall the big box light on top of/alongside the main gun barrel.

A quick browse through the AMPS site and contest results link (AMPS East, iirc) will turn up the image.

Other ideas would be to add the 3-set Infra red scopes fantasy from the DML Night Fighting Panther to a Maus or E-100 (like I'm doing, slowly.. ok I last worked on it in June..)

CMD's Flak Maus/E-100 turret is beautiful as well. I just have to take the time to do it justice.

Mike
