I just ran to the post office to pick up my latest package from Formations... Rob has outdone himself on the new Ram OP everything arrived in one piece and the parts are all well cast . Everything you need to convert the Tamiya M4 to a Ram is in the bag...he's even added a template to make the strange light guards ...Now that is class.. So as soon as I stop salivating over the kit I'll go test fit it to a Tamiya hull.
Order with confidence ...I just love his stuff..

Got mine as well and it looks great. Once my M4A4 is wrapped up I think this will be my next project.

Watch out Richard! Drool will react with your CA glue!

I was looking at my Formations M24 update set yesterday too -- being VERY tempted to break into it. Great stuff. Please keep us up to date!

Well, there is a real possibility that these would be painted Brown. Now, I suspect that SCC15 is the right colour, but they would heve been built and painted before the switch to SCC15, so they might have been SCC2.

Just a thought for discussion, not a declaration of fact, or anything.

Just thinking out loud here but ..by the time the Ram II looked like this kit ,wouldn't they have switched over to the scc15? Very late model I think.

Paul you don't happen to have a color mix for that brown? Is it similart to the color the Centaurs were painted? I know they were brownish.

Very late, yes. SCC15, no. The Ram OPs were all built in 1943, right at the end of production, being on the line as the first Grizzlies were being built and the Sexton was designed. The order to paint in SCC15 came down in 1944, though, so too late for the first paint on any Ram. Notwithstanding that, though, a year without a repaint is a long time so they might have been repainted in 1944, and that would be in SCC15.
I wouldn't call anyone on it either way. In Italy, any Ram OPs might be in Light Mud and black. Don't know if any got there before we pulled 1st & 5th Divs back to Holland for the last push.

As for colour mixes for the brown, the MAFVA site has mixes for SCC2 in Humbrol. Otherwise, I'd take RAF Mid Earth and add some darker brown, like a chocolate colour to darken it up a bit. The colour, SCC2, is the exact same colour as the Centaurs (and all other Brit vehicles of the period). Fresh dogsh*t is the shade you're looking for...

:-)

Are you saying that a camo pattern may have been used? I want to paint mine in something other than OD if possible. I have seen Rams with a cloud pattern that I would like to use if applicable to these vehicles.
Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks,

If, and it's a big if, any Ram OPs were camoed, this would be the pattern. The colours _might_ have been Light Mud and Black for Italy but I have no information that any Ram OPs served with 5 div and I can't check as my references are all packed away for a move. Given that Italian campaign divisions were generally last to get new kit, then the SP arty regiments in 5 Cdn Arm'd Div would be less likely to have any Ram OPs at all.

However, like I say, this is speculation.
