These are the Tamiya Panzer II Ausf. F/G. I added Eduard PE, MV lenses, and Elefant barrels. They are painted with Polly S acrylics and Humbrol enamels.

Adam,

Very nice pair of Panzers! You definitely have a skill to turn old kits into very handsome models. I really like the twins.

And all these times, I thought you are working on that Sherman, now you pop out with two Panzer II, you sneaky one, you!

Seeing your work makes me wanna to put more time on my building....great stuff!

And Happy New Year!

Really nice work again Adam. I have one of these underway as well, and built it without the turret/stowage compartment making it a ausf ? (I cant remember). I was thinking at the time to buy the same kit again and build the other variant. I was really dissapointed with the figures in the kit though as they all have serious sink marks in their legs and backs where the braces meet at the "Y", if you know what I mean. thats what put me off!
I have it painted with humbrol dark grey and now plan to spray it with tamiya acrylic sand and then try a method i read about recently where after about 15-30 mins you pour wahing powder on and scrub all the corners with a toothbrush to show heavy chipping. The article I read looked very convincing and this little kit was so cheap! But apart from the figures, I had no other complaints...... the battery holes dont bother me as they are not seen!
They will make a nice little addition to your collection

They look great Adam. I'm curious as to why you built 2 variants of the exact same kit? I've got to break up my building like one WW2 US, one modern, one Allied tank, one Warsaw Pact...You've got better "stick-to-it" than me

Thanks for all of the comments guys.

Rob--I am typically like you when it comes to building kits. I can't build the same kit or even one from the same country in a row, but I made an exception this time. I got these kits from a guy in my club who was selling them for $5 a piece and decided to use them as practice kits. The only reason that I used the PE and gun barrel is that the kits came with them (he was getting out of WWII modeling and decided to just rid himself of the kits). I have never been very happy with my painting and weathering techniques so I decided to slap these guys together fairly quickly and use them as practice. I am not as good as you may think with my "stick-to-it" though as I started these kits back in February of 2002 and just finished them. I had them completely built, painted, and applied markings, but couldn't bring myself to finish them as I had grown very weary of them, but I decided that I needed to complete them before the end of the year and forced myself to do it. I have one more of these kits at home that I will probably work on in a few months or so, but this one I am going to try and really go to town on rather than just slap it together. I have the new Eduard PE for it, a Moskit exhaust, a barrel, new commander's cupola, Friulmodel tracks, Tamiya OVE set, new roadwheels, and I may get the Cutting Edge suspension. Hopefully, I'll be able to share that model with you all in a few months or at least no more than a year.

By the way Adam, you are doing a Tristar panzer 1 A interior right?
would you like to split one with me like I mentioned in one of my post?

StUkaWang--I airbrushed them with Polly S acrylics.

Oberst--I must not have seen your post or it has totally slipped my mind (this is more likely). What exactly do you mean by splitting one?

For these kits, I used the kit roadwheels. The project that I have planned for the future will use replacement roadwheels.

Adam,

Nice twins! You have done a good job on those Panzers. Can't wait to see it weathered. It was a good deal that you got it for 5 dollars only.
