Start date is whenever you are ready to begin... the last date you may submit photos for your entry is Friday, January 10th, with judging due by January 31st.

One more night to finish everything for the contest ! We've seen some exciting little gems parading though the audition on these pages. It has been a great two months !
Some of the dios that were started and looked/sounded really exciting, but dissapeared from view since (unless I missed them during the holidays). Where's Anders' water tower ? The dio with the sniper hidden under the bridge ?
I look forward to see the results. I'd like to thank all who participated for the fun this brought me through the past weeks and months. I built bigger and more spectacular projects, but I never had so much fun with modeling.

Hand out those ribbons now, Jim !

Jan,

I fully second your words. It's been two wonderful months as far as modeling is concerned !!

I'd Love to see al those entries combined in the Campaign Gallery.

Well let's face the final curtain....it's time to clean the brushes, shoot the last pics and prepare the final e-mail containing the pics to the judges.

And now....... one night sleep and then start working on another little dio.... I feel I've got the hang of it.

Thanks everybody !! It has been a great experience to join this Campaign.

Here goes the curtain!!!
I'm wrapping up and emailing in my entry. I had a BLAST with this and I learned soooo very much. I'm sure I will post a wrap up.
Here I just want to thank everyone and encourage everyone to get thier entries in.

This was fun, education, encouraging, inpirational, self motivating, externally motivating, modeling driven, diorama driven fun, fun, fun fun.

I may not be able to send in my pics before monday! As I dont have my own digital camera, and have been off work since christmas, the dio only need small touches, but no pics before monday (at least). It all depends when I get over this flu. It doesnt matter anyway....... I made a model... that wont win (its not the winning its the competing that counts). I used Italeri´s "window" that i had for ages and never used. Its a church ruin, that needed more work than to build one from scratch, and DML sniper set! This sniper set is excellent! A joy to work with!

Maybe it's nice to see who entered this contest and what title they gave to their entry....

It's always possible that people enter a diorama without telling about it over here. This way they stay anonimous until the presentation of the results. This is absolutely fine with me, but as a tensionbuilder, I'd like to know who joined..... No pics, no stories, no comments...just their callsign and the title of their work....... I think there are more people joining in than we've seen around here in posts.

How do you guys feel about that ?

I have another question

Is Keith the only one to who we have to send the pictures to because I believe I have read in a post at the beginning of this campaign that there are three judges if we have to send them to all three what are the other E-mail adresses then??
hope that somebody could sort that out for me

by the way my dio is finished for a long time needless to say that it`s name is "DISTRACTION" but as I looked to the pictures today (friday the 10th of january) that I wanted to send here at my work I found out that the pictures that I have are not really good they are clear that`s not the point but I don`t have a good overall shot, will make new photo`s but I have to see if I can send them tonight already else it will be saturday ( hope that is not a problem)

anyway I had a good time during this campaign and I enjoyed it a lot this was for me an extra challenge because it was my first time scratchbuilding a complete dio. It were my first steps into figuresculpting it were also my first steps in making my own houses using styrofoam.
and it was also the cheapest thing I have ever made (2.56 Euro wich would quite be the same in US dollars)

I like your idea too eagle a list with all the competitors and the names of their dio`s

anyway it was great and I hope there will be more of those thing coming up in the future

I think we can persuade Keith to postpone the entry date for pictures till Monday, or at least to allow pictures that are sent until Monday to participate ?

I don't think you need to post to all 3 judges. Just one of them (preferably Keith) will do

Keith has a post in the Dio formum that has the rules and yea there are three judges but he is the only one who was on the picture email list, so you should be fine.

Hi Jan,

You´re absolutely right! This contest was a big experience, most of all because of the good vibes among the participants. Allthough, there was a tragic moment Just when it seemed to get a peaceful contest, Volkie got hit by severe measure-punishment-artillery and had tho struggle hard to find his way "nachhause" (home). We hope he will come back as a phoenix on the day of final jugdement.
Ahhh, don´t forget "Dragan´s watch" (by Toni) on Your list!

You can add my Metallica inspired title for your list also Jan!

Seek and Destroy - PlasticBattle

Thanks for suggesting Monday as the final finishing day as i wont get the digital camera from work until then. Hopefully´this is OK for all you guys.
Cost of my dio
Italeri Church ruin "window" - $5
DML sniper - $2
Ikea frame(base)/some static grass/1mm plastic sheet/glue/paint/etc - $2
Total cost $9

I actually built 2 dios at the same time using Italeris church ruin "doorway" as well and DML sniper team in that as well. One will be winter time and one autumn. I have the 4th figure ready to add to the competition dio after photos were taken to complete it.
I will post photos of both on monday!

This is the first dio I have built where i havent scratch built the main part of the dio. I had these Italeri kits sitting around for a while and wanted to use them up. I really enjoyed the DML german sniper set. Great figures!

Don't forget me! My guy, the "Lone Defender" is already lonely. Don't leave him out of the fun. Anders, are you still bringing your water tower dude out to play?

Another one for the list is mine,
"Window of opportunity"
Now that the contest has almost finished I only have 2 things to say'
1, That I really enjoyed doing this and it is the first time I have ever entered a competion. Maybe because it is on the net and not face to face I have felt more confident about entering.
2, When are we going to start theball rolling on the idea's for the next one?
Cheers
Robbo :-)

What about January 31.... closing date, as I remeber, was January 10....... I think you mixed up closing date and the date of judging......

Jeff,
The contest rules say 10/01...
I suggest you send an e-mail to Keith (his address is in the contest rules post in this forum).
I don't think the spirit of this dio contest is to rule out anyone for administration purpose, but you better check with Keith !

BTW, that's a mighty nice wall you put up there. That window looks excellent. Bricks colours make it look like a Dutch house...

Ralf,
I can just as well reveal my secret now.
After it seemed that Volkie's tree was out of contest proportions, I decided to make a sequel diorama to it. It would show Volkmar who has cut down the tree. So all you see is Volkmar, a tree trunk, the stem of the cut down tree in a snowy landscape. All within the dio proportions.
Volkmar would carry a number of protest signs and banners. One saying "tree house for sale", another complaining about stupit contest size restrictions and a third sign in which he announces to his mom that he'll be home soon.

But then came the x-mas holiday in which I started building a huge castle diorama with my little sone, and the heavy end-of-year workload, and Volkmar won't make it in time.
Thank you for translating Volkmar's three messages to German, Ralf ! The project is still in the pipeline, but it won't make it before (this contest's) judgment day.

Hola!

As far as my water tower and dio for this competition, its pretty much to late Just got back from Sweden Monday night and havent had the time to finish it up

The figure is half painted, water tower is painted, custom base is made, the wall front section is done and painted, however, none of it is put together yet, although it probably wouldn't take but a couple of hours to finish I dont have a digital camera, and there isnt a 1 hour development in this area of the boondocks. Maybe I'll just finish it anyways, if the dead line is pushed forward, I'll get it done for sure

I think it would be sad to see the competition closing and not including the guys who couldnt get finished in time. Although Im finished now, I wont be able to post pictures until monday when I can borrow the camera from work!
I think in the spirit of the whole thing we could put back the finishing time to let people get finished up/ photos developed /whatever!
We started out as a group build so lets all finish this group build! I guess Christmas falling in the middle of the time has delyed some folks. Would everybody agree to this. Hopefully Keith reads this and agrees!

I would love to see another group build starting again, as I enjoyed building, seeing all you guy´s entries but most of all the unbelievable dios that have resulted!
Good luck everybody!

Hola!

I don't expect no extension as we have all had plenty of time to get done with our projects and we all knew the deadline was made Jan 10th 2003, we knew this a long time ago. If it wasn't a "competition" I can see it being extended, but people have worked so hard to get it done in time that its not really 'fair' to extend. Now, it may seem that Im against it, but I just don't think its really 'fair' to the ones who completed it in time. I myself know I wasnt going to make it when I decided I was going to Sweden over X-Mas, that was my own desicion, but if the deadline for some reason is extended I will make an effort to finish it and have pictures ready in time
