Well, I really am keen on this campaign, having finished one dio already, with another one in my mind.
I dont know what the rules say, but if you were to ask me questions, I'd promise not to even take a guess at what your project is at the close, or divulge it to anyone else. If thats ok with our leader that is.

Seeing how this campaign is entitled "Hooray for hollywood", I thought I'd share the following information I found out about a very well known actor, Charles Durning .
Charles Durning
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Charles DurningCharles Durning (born February 28, 1923 in Highland Falls, New York) is an American actor of stage and screen, born to an impoverished Irish American Catholic family, which he left as soon as possible to ease the financial pressure on his mother. An eminent character actor, Durning is known for his versatility and for sometimes outperforming the main actors in his films.
Military service
Durning served as a soldier in World War II, during which he was awarded a Silver Star, three Purple Heart medals, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 21, and landed on D Day in the Normandy Invasion on June 6, 1944. Some sources state he was in the 1st Infantry Division at the time but it is unclear if he was a rifleman or in an artillery unit by 1944.
On Omaha Beach itself, Pvt. Charles Durning was among the first troops to land. Drafted early in the war, he was first assigned as a rifleman with the 398th Infantry Regiment, but later served overseas with the 3rd Army Support troops and the 386th Anti-aircraft Artillery (AAA) Battalion.
Durning was wounded by an “S” Mine on June 15, 1944, at Les Mare des Mares. He was transported by the 499th Medical Collection Company to the 24th Evacuation Hospital. By June 17, he was back in England at the 217th General Hospital. Although severely wounded by shrapnel in the left and right thigh, right hand, the frontal region of the head and the interior left chest wall, Durning recovered quickly and was determined to be “fit for duty” on Dec. 6, 1944. Durning was present for the Battle of the Bulge, the German counter-offensive in December 1944. [1]
He was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge, and was one of the few survivors of the infamous Malmedy massacre of American POWs, perpetrated by a battlegroup under Joachim Peiper of the 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. "He escaped with two others, and returned to find the remainder murdered.[2]
After being wounded in the chest, Durning was repatriated to the United States where he remained in army hospitals, receiving treatment for both physical and psychological wounds, until discharged with the rank of Private First Class on January 30, 1946.
Durning has said that he still suffers from nightmares about his war experiences. He was nominated for an Emmy award for his extraordinary portrayal of a Marine veteran in a special episode of the television series NCIS titled "Call of Silence", first broadcast Nov. 23, 2004. Clearly drawing on his first-hand knowledge of battle-induced stress, Durning's character turns himself in to authorities insisting that he must be prosecuted for having murdered his buddy during ferocious combat on Iwo Jima six decades ago. The real truth of the incident only becomes known for certain when the guilt-stricken veteran goes through a cathartic reliving of the battlefield events.
Durning is well-known for participating in various functions to honor American veterans. He was the chairman one year of the U.S. National Salute to Hospitalized veterans.

Ohhh man!!! That is beautiful!
Thats one of those movies that I can watch over, and over, and over again, no matter how many times it comes on TV.

I know the feeling, with Deer season coming up, and the weather cooling down, I'll find myself wanting to be outdoors more and more.Round about Christmas I'll become a home body again.

How's everyone coming along with their stuff? I've netered a few campaigns now, and Ive got to say, i like the way this has turned into a guessing game! Still havent even begun my 2nd entry yet, does anyone have a personal preference for making water?
Man, I just thought of a great dio from "Empire of the sun"! Im hesitant to mention it, in fear that someone might actually being thinking the same thing though.

Ditto!
I haven't started on my second one yet, but hopefully my figures for it will come in this week! I've been rather busy @ work; my company lost its contract, and I have switched over to the incoming company (much to the chagrin of my bosses boss). Well, they were the one who offered me a raise and a promotion! That makes my wife happy, and means more income, which means I can get more models (Muahahaha!!!).

But because that one is not completely by the rules... I started a second one! Inspired on a scene of a "modern war" movie I bought in a DVD discount...

Can't wait to see you entries Paul! I actually got some of the figures for my second entry from VLS this past weekend. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the rest in a few weeks.
I keep getting sidetracked though! I've got a great entry for the Purple Heart campaign that has taken on a life of it's own, a project based on the 3rd battle of Kharkov thats captured my attention (still in the rough sketch phase, even though Ive painted all the figures),an entry for the british armor campaign to boot, and I've started buying the Polish Cavalry figures from Warriors. Have you seen those? I couldnt resist.

Hey Steve!
I know waht you mean: I have to stay focused too and not get sidetracked totally. I think the "not posting pictures until the end" is the hardest thing to do in this campaign. If I post a pic now, people will allready know what it is (or have all time to figure it out).
@GI Babycakes; this campaign is tougher than we believed! :-)
Well, can't resist... II just give one hint for the each entry:
#1: it's a jeep in Gemany (Steve, you know what it is so keep quiet!)
#2: will be a BRDM on it's side.
Paul

Tell me about it! I've actually got mine finished, and my entry for Purple Heart campaign, but my photographs are horrid. I've got to get a friend to shoot them for me this weekend. Santa brought me some killer stuff, but I should have asked for a better digital camera.

Hey, hey !!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
This is my entry. I'm afraid it's not totally following the rules, because it's not a scene and not an actually used vehicle in the series itself (think it's obvious what series that was... ).
Well anyway, if I get a ribbon or not is all the same for me; I had fun with the build (and 'research') of the model.
Thank's GI Babycakes for the nice subject!!
BTW: it's a 1:25 scale model...
