These are Juniper roots, down here in the Jersey Pine Barrens they grow everywhere, just yank them out of the sandy soil, let dry, then dress as Summer trees with spices [ and paint ], or leave as Winter trees bare, Fall etc.
These are from 1 -2 ft. high Junipers.
I have some bigger ones drying on the back of my work truck right now.
If anyone is interested I'll mail you them , or look for them where you live, they make excellent dio trees.

I like these roots. Very detailed.
I ripped out some box woods last weekend nothing as good as this.
Nice trees

Wow, those are super. I have used some rather nice
roots from a small hedge out in the front yard, but they
are nothing as good as these. Really look realistic.

Thanks for the info. A Juniper . . . hummmm, wonder if
you could crush 'em and make bathtub gin? Naw, it's
just the Berries. . . .

Isn't that whre Paulie Walnuts and Chritopher Moltisanti shot the Russian then got lost in the woods and fought over a packet of take out ketchup?

They look fantastic!

I always keep an eye out for roots whenever I'm walking - especially dumpster bins out front of building sites.

But I never found any as nice as those.
I wonder how well they would travel to Sydney, Australia!!! :-)

Guys, I've already dressed some up for one of my daughter's school projects and they look great.
I'll make some up today and post some finished pics.
Some spray glue, parsley or the like and they are basically finished. The trunk and branch texture are already tree - like so nothing need be done there. I was thinking about matte varnishing them when done to see how that turns out.

Dave, the tried and true method of avoiding the Joisey Devil while running through the Pine Barrens down here is to do it nekkid. This way you kill two birds with one stone :
#1 You avoid the Jersey Devil
#2 while naked ... your tick hunting

Al, yup this is the place, why there are so many buried goodfellas down here, when the wind blows the trees talk with thier hands.

Kev. I'll send some out.

Jeremy p.m. back atcha

AndyD, while freshly picked they remain really pliable for some time, so they will ship with no problem. Actually even after they have seasoned they are easily bent into shapes, they don't really snap when radically bent either, so to bend them to break, to achieve a position, a partial break is easily fixed with a little wood glue.
You want them, send me an address, no problem.

Cheyenne

They look great. I wish I could find something nearly as good here is Oz. Either I haven't been looking hard enough or I need new glasses :-)

I see Andy has already suggested you send some out here, however I would advise against it as it would constitute a serious breach of our Quarantine laws.

And I would hate to have you two appear before me for that sort of thing
