Hi Antonio,

I'm glad you liked my article - the Merkava was a real labor-of-love for me......

Your model is very nice indeed. If you would like some advice, I think you should give your model a couple of darker "pin washes" around various bits of detail. Overall your model needs more "contrast". I think it would take it from being a very nice model, to being an absolutely beautiful model. This is of course only my personal opinion, like I said, your Merk is great, one of the niceset I've seen.....I'll look forward to the completed model with great interest.

Regards,

Adam

It's the same Adam O'Brien that made the amazing kit featured in AFV Modeller??
The article about you build was my ultimate reference on color, weathering and overall look of the tank. I downloaded the article (paying of course) just to see how it was done.
Excellent build. I would be happy if I could reach half that quality

how can I download it too? couldnt find such an option on the AFV Modeller's page.

Hey Adam-nice to have you onboard.

Without rying to sound too much like a bum kisser-your Merk 3D is inspirational! I cant remember how many times ive spent staring at it in the AFV modeller mag on my boring bus journeys home from college.
Have you got any more IDF projects planned? Everyone seems to be doing PUMA's at the minute, including me!

Thanks Rob, I remember your kind comments over at M-L. Yeah, there does seem to be quite a few Pumas coming thru at the moment....there is a VERY nice one unfinished over at idf-armour-group at the moment.

I'm currently doing a Tiran5 with a dozer blade.....slowly, but I should have a few photos of my progress soon....

Thanks again mate....

I'll toss out my .02 cents on the tedious thing as well. I too would say the ball and chain armor for the Merk. After doing that indy tracks have never bothered me anymore.

Cheers,
Mike

I have not done the ball and chain armor or the individual track links yet (only the link and length). So, until then, the most annoying thing I have to do is road wheels. I can't stand painting them. Especially on some of those German tanks like the Panther...there are tons of them!

Great model of the Mk. III guys.

I wanted to ask you both how you bent the aerials on your model? And how to you recreate them being tied down? I am buidling the Mark IV and want to know some advice on this before I get to that stage.

Thanks,
Felix

Catman,

The main comms aerial on my model was made with a length of fine brass rod painted white. To get the bent appearence, I scratch-built a bent spring base by winding very fine copper wire around a pre-bent piece of sprue. The wire aerial was then drilled into the sprue base and attached to the model. Lastly, I tied the aerial to the model with a length of grey synthetic thread.
Hope this helps....

Thanks for the information. I will try this out and post some pics when I'm done.

Great inspiration, too.
