Happily for me somebody said to me that I had to change the things I said in the first contest.
I had to change everything from "stolen from" to "donated by" And that was my rescue
Else I had to ask you guys for a fundraising for my bail :-) :-)

No really I`m absolutely in for a costs limitation. That was the biggest challenge for me I tried to get the costs as low as possible and I succeeded in that
so in the next dio contest I would love to see a money limitation

I'm kind of curious ... can everybody "reveal" their cost.

I'm at below $3.00. I can give you details if you want.

Sure, I'm at $ 13.00. That's a resin figure of $ 10 and $ 3 for other items.

Gentlemen,

Would love to get this on the road. Water/fountain theme works, lets just get moving so the building may start. The faster we get this one going, the faster we get to the next one, like an infantry ambush, in any time period. Buy the way, where does the water come from? My wife said using the tub is out of the question. Eyeballing the kitchen sink at dinner, looked promising!!!!! Just half kidding...do have a small problem with water, never done anything with it! So this should be interesting.

I believe that nothing should be a problem. If you ask enough questions .... "seek and ye shall find".
I have made one water dio and this is the result

this was my one and only attempt. And i have all those whom i asked for their tips and ideas to thank. The same should go here. The help is there, just ask for it!

OK, I surrender, Plasticbattle has won the water contest already!!! That's some nice water there.

I've never done water either, just doing my first little try out with mud (I'm using Future for the wet look). So, this can be very interesting and we'll learn a lot.

I wouldn't mind getting started also. I'll need some practice.

I'm up for whatever comes so bring on the water, bring on the era, bring on the cost, bring on whatever. The first was a blast and the next will be too.

BTW - cost on Cost Stare was $4.45.

Looks like a fair question to me... If the Campaign is due to start in spring, it gives us some time to think things over and do some planning when we make some rules now. I think enough has been said and done. Let's decide on what it will be.

As for me, I stick to the intitial thoughts by Keith and insert possible future ideas in Jan's (General Failure) thread. We could talk for hours on what to do or what to do not but we have got to choose sometime...maybe this is the time ?

I'd like to have an amout of time to do some relaxed thinking, planing and practicing for my next dio. Setting the rules gives us that time.

So what do you say ? Set rules ?

I like the ideas guys... keep 'em coming! Seems the "water + soldiers and civilian" is a popular deal.

The idea of 1900's on is a-OK with me as well... does anyone have a justifiable objection?

Keith,
Dear Campaign Leader,

We count on your wisdom to bring judgement and make a decision on this campaign. (Unlike that other campaign the whole world is holding it's breath for) we would like to get this show on the road.
The deal would be :

- two soldiers
- on civillian
- a water feature
- period = post 1990
- scale = 1/35
- dimensions = 5x7 base limit
- comment on the cost of your project
- post progress of your dio project on these pages as campaign goes along
- campaign starts on 1/3/3 or 1/4/3 (Keith, I suggest you discuss this with Jim and Rob ?).

Saddle your horses and shine your boots ! We're rolling !!!

That sounds good to me. I was in the last one and ready to start the next. Just need to bone up on the photo thing...

Ready to roll.

Guys (& Vlady?)....

Thanks for showing the GREAT interests, and the "rules" as sumarized basically by Jan are almost dead on... BUT... I won't post the FINAL RULES just yet, for several reasons:

a) We don't want to "compete" with other contests that are running
b) I don't want to give current members an advantage over possible newcomers that may join later.
c) There is the posibility that someone may add a new idea or minor twist that we would wish we had incorporated if we had just waited
d) I told Jim I would wait until he had the new and forthcoming "Contest Calendar Tool" ready so we could schedule across the entire website without causing too much congestion.

The contest WILL happen... and as it now stands, the basics outlined by General Failure could serve as your general guideline for formulating ideas, but DON'T START yet, okay...?

And thanks again for all your support, ideas, and encouragement!

PS - I have suggested a "surprise" offer to Jim that I hope he will take advantage of... keep your eyes peeled for a "special offer" exclusively to the members of Armorama... that's all I can say for now!

I like the contest calendar idea !!

I'll hold my horses until the starting date. I'll use the time to do some research.

thanks Keith

Yeah I like the calendar thing too

This was something that crossed the forum last week or so.
I think that it`s good to know when the contest or other special events start or end
It makes it much more easier to plan your time on modeling

I will wait with baited breath.

I guess we're kinda like excited kids on a vacation - "are we there yet? are we there yet?"

As usual - Jan and Keith (and Jim of course) stepping up.

Here's a suggestion. Is there a way we can put something in the main menu, a category called contests and group builds. And it could have the start and end dates/rules of the various group builds and contests etc etc. Or stick it under news etc. There sure seems to be alot of interest and I like the idea of making us WW2 builders do something modern. Get us out of our comfort zone and trying new things. Just wondering on when the rules and dates are going to be finalized. Plus where am I going to get a civilian?

bison,
I am not one to fork out alot of money for resin kits. So the way i get civilians is just cut and paste up soilders till they are dressed like civies. Its actually alot of fun. Take a head from here, and an arm from their.

Cheers,
Paul

Bison bro, like Paul sez, hammer those soldier boys, with a little kleenex and white glue and water you can replicate just about anything that's for real in the wardrobe department. For hair and such, try styled putty or even styrene liquid cement and sprue combined to make a stiff putty. it dries hard as a rock so you better texture it as it hardens, but I've used it for everything from horses manes and tails to turning a German paratrooper into a french hooker.

Hope it helps
