hi there

For towing the Pak 40, Germans used mainly Sdkfz 11, Opel maultiers, Opel blitz, RSO, Sdkfz 251 and even Demag D7 (sdkfz 10). Concord has a book of the armor at war series about German softskins, in that u could find lot of pics some of them shows vehicles towin Pak 40s...

I hope that will help u.

yeah, I was thinking I might use a Sdkfz 251 (link I think that this one should be good...).

But when making the Pak 40, I glued on the shield, and then a step or two later it said that the shield would be folded for towing position. What does that mean? I have no idea, but I might be able to take off the shield if I need to to make it towable.

Ahh ah ah! There we go. Thanks a bundle for the help! Now I gotta see if that part *will* fold...if so, that means I need to buy another model, maybe.

Okay, now that I know that info, I should pick out a 251 to match, and see if I really do want to make this dio on a larger scale

so, for a beginning modeller on a rather tight budget, which makes more sense (overall) to get?

1. A Tamiya model --> Link
2. A Dragon model --> Link

I like the fact that the Dragon one has so much more to offer, but for someone who is just starting out, would the simpler, half-the-price one (Tamiya) be better?

Stick with the tamiya kits until you feel more comfortable with your skills. While the DML kits have many bells and whistles, their buildability for the beginner is definitely in question. They give "veteran" builders a good run for their money.
