Im trying to do some research about Kolobanov. I have found 2 pieces of information. His tank number was 864 and he was part of the 1st Tank Division. From information I have gathered and from forum discussions, it has been thought that Kolobanovs tank was probably a KV-1E. I have a few questions and hopefully there are some Russian Gurus around.
1. Was his tank a KV-1E?
2. Did they paint the tank number on the turret? (I have seen pics of russian tanks with propaganda writing on it and i have seen pictures with numbers on the turret but it doesnt seem to be a constant thing.)
Any other comments or information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brian, I got my information from PST when i built there 1/72 scale KV-1, according to them the number was painted on the turret in white. Apparently his tank took over 100 hits!
