guys
this is mu e 100 b
i bought the kit just to modify it as i always thought it would look better than the original
Michael Rinaldi built one and i used photos of his to do mine
Mine is a bit different to his in the layout of the stuff on top of the turret and i used the surplus parts left over from the dragon king tiger
the barrel mantlet was made of car body fillet with plastic rings to guide the profile
all the welds were done with a soldering iron
i still have to come up with a cammo scheme
regards andrew

Excellent, Andrew. I wonder how effective the beast would have been in action?

Very nice buld Andrew, especially the weld seams.....seeing as this is a "what if" Panzer, why not go for the "octopus" scheme? I think that could add the finishing touches to your excellent model.

guys
thanks for all your comments
im not sure what cammo scheme ill paint it in
ill have to look in some galleries
operationally i think the e100b would have been a disaster
if they had been spotted on the battle field i think the typhoons would have been called in
but this is only a guess
regards andrew

I think you need to relook the coax. Little to far out. Also the germans used the mg34 for tank coaxs in WW2. Of course you can bend history on these point with a PZ46.

Adrew, that's neat, I'm playing with the same base kit but went with a larger barrel on the origonal turret, removed the fender angle index pieces along the side of the hull and added short Z stock to simulate small fenders{didn't want the origonal chunky ones}. I love the machine gun mount you put up front! I've got a huge night vision light assy{from spare parts box} on the top of the turret and a full wide jerry can rack on the back of the turret{removed the square piece back there on the origonal turret}. I thought about a modern cuppola on top of the turret...that's as far as I got with that mod though...
I need to find a maus one of these days...I love the big tanks!

MG-42 was also used late in the war as Coax.
But my main problem with this is, there is no room for a coax MG there. The gun trunions of such a maingun are massive, and even IF a coax MG can be fitted there, who's going to fire it? No crewmember fits there.
Unless you want it to be fired remotely...
Also, there was a reason tanks like the Maus and E-100 had no MG mounted. Also the E50/75 designs did away with hull MG's as well.

You might also re-consider the sight in the turretfront, which is redundant as you also have the periscopical sight on the turretroof. The sight next to the gun also cannot be there for the same reasons.
And I'm even doubting the turretfront alltogether as being too narrow for a 128 or 150mm gun.

Andrew, I am trying desperately to find one of these E100 kits to modify in this fashion. They are hard to find! Is the turret all scratch built? What size is this gun and what kit did it come from? I cant wait to see your next update. Thanks for sharing it with us. Cheers kevin

I havnt seen an E100 kit for a long time
the turret is scratch built
the barrel thats the beige bit is a resin copy of a jagd tiger 128mm gun
all the grey plastic bits on the turret are from the original kit and also the parts that arnt used in the dragon king tiger tank kit
ill check net merchants site and let you know if they have any
if you whant to know more details just ask and ill be glad to helpyou

I like the look of the conical sight on the turret top, but if you look at the second picture, having it flush with the sloping part of the turret roof gives it an odd angle to my eye.
It would mean more work, but either shimming the front edge so that the entire assembly is parallel with the upper rear turret plate (with the cupola), or
notching back behind the sight so that it protrudes and is still parallel with the rear section of the turret roof.
My US$0.02..
Great build! I wish I had your skillz!
Mike

I'd say keep the aux site. That's what prisms were made for. Also the turret front looks fine for the cal. of weapon. Just check out the width a T2 turret. If you have a Hummel kit you can get an impression of the mount. Just remember the mount in a tank will be more compact as the Hummel uses basicly a field carriage.
What tanks use the mg42 as a coax in WWII?
