Thanks Staff Jim, I'll enjoy tooling around town in it!!! :-) :-)
Actually I'm kidding Jim.
But after kidding Vinnie on his review of the Trakz 1/35 scale German Staff Car. It arrived at my house on Monday, so it is now underway on my work bench.
Review here:
Trakz German Staff Car Review

This is the three body section glued together, the fit was excellent after a little sanding of the interlocking sections.

Here's another view, unfortunately the front frame sections were broken off and missing, and I needed to extend the frame a bit to mount the front springs.

Seats are being dry fitted here, so far no major fit problems.

The underside, still have the mold plugs to remove on the rear section, amazing something so large can be over looked in the excitement of the build..... :-)

The fenders, lots of tiny pin holes to fill.

Major missing parts!!! Although the hood/bonnet and fenders both have the openings for the side exhaust pipes, there are none included in the kit, nor pictured in the parts diagram, nor mentioned on the instructions.

Well, off to continue the build, and Thanks for the kit Vinnie

Hey Dave,

Looks like you're off to a great start. Does this mean the hand is much better?

I peeked inside the kit at my local shop. I thought it was an interesting subject, but the price tag turned me off. For the same amount of money I could get the Comet, Centurion, or new Panzer IV.

Looks like you're doing a great job on the kit though.

The hand is doing well, and nice to be modelling again.

Well, just a little update on this project, to let everyone know I'm not sleeping on the job :-)

Here the doors are fitted, and the fenders dry fitted, along with the scratch built exhaust pipes missing from the kit.

The bulging doors, sticking out at least a scale 3 inches.

The smooth transition of the real thing. (we won't talk about the different dash cluster!)

Happy sanding with a dremel drum sander!!

No more bulging doors:

Hand sanding, with CA, and filler needed

Top edge of doors needing to be leveled and shaped and smoothed:

More to follow, as I progress along with this project.

:-) I do a lot of my building when I'm on the midnight shift, but this one I'm actually building at home, in the spare time. :-)

Being a Trax kit, I would guess you could pick it up at any on line shop that carrys Trax kits.

Well time for another update,

Tape laid out to start replacing the trim.

Trim CAed in place, using super thin CA. Simply laid the strip along the tape, then slowly glued in place, a little at a time. All the replaced trim was done this way. A little light sanding blended it in with the remaining molded on trim.

A light coat of primer, (I use Floquil primer for years, can't see a reason to change at my age) The primer shows up any areas that still need attention. The larger photos, sure help the old eyes.

Almost ready for Colonel Klink to take a spin around Stalag 13! Looking good Dave, but I'm still glad I left the kit on the hobby shop shelf.

Resin kits make you want to cry when you open them up and look at the parts and the (generaly lousy directions).. When you finally finish (after much hard work and cursing and reshaping and shaping and some scratching)you go "Wow !!! Maybe it wasn't so bad afterall". Then you foolishly go out and try it again.....at least this time I only have a conversion rather than the full tilt resin kit. :-) :-)

Dave? Wow! After reviewing this particular kit, and taking pictures of the parts, I know exactly how much work you must have put into it to get the result you have done. Really looking forward to seeing this one complete. Are you going to give it a glossy finish?

Thanks for the nice words guys, I'm hoping for a gloss finish, the key word is "hoping".... :-)

I'm going to attempt to try using Bare Metal Foil for the chrome. Again the key word is "attempt", and it's been years since I used this product.

Well, sprayed the gloss grey, now for the long wait for it to fully cure before and sanding for flaws and belmishes. So will be working on a few other things while time passes.

Gloss coats always show up flaws really good, even better than a primer coat! :-) Have to be careful with paint building up where you don't want it to.

The return of the kit from hell :-) :-)
Not being happy with this:

The excessive tool and sanding marks still showing up on the gloss coat, I ripped off the door hinges, and handle stubs, and filled and sanded, filled and sanded, and reprimed more times than I can count.

Hopefully they won't show up again after I reshoot the gloss grey again.
