Are there any manufacturers that produce 1/35 scale figures from the Great War besides Emhar? Also, how good/bad is the quality of the Emhar figures?
TIA

Check out Model Cellar. This is their specialty. Although checking the page, it appears they may have dropped their 1/35 line. Michigan Toy has a few of their German figures here

Kevin,
The Emhar figures are not great. Quite honestly they look more like toy soldiers than military models. They are single cast in a soft plastic. Save your money mate, don't waste it on these figures like I did.
Tell us a bit more. What specifically are you looking for?

Try ICM, they have German and British kits.
I have purchased 2 boxes of the germans they are not too bad, they only problem is that their face expressions are a bit naff, but you get a load of equipment.

Rudi, I'm mainly looking for British, American, and German (1/35) plastic figures to be used in dioramas and vignettes. I'd prefer plastic as they're easier to modify than metal. I'm interested in the same level of quality as Tamiya's WWII figures. In this scale it seems there are not that many options.
Al, I'll dig around on the net to see if someone else is carrying Model Cellar figures.
Gary, I didn't know ICM was producing anything in this subject. I've been happy with some of their WWII offerings in the past.
Thanks for the tips everyone!

Hey Kevin,
I'm not sure how easily you're going to find WW1 American 1/35 soldiers in plastic. I don't recall seeing a set yet. With minor modification, though, a Brtitish set could be converted.
I too have got the ICM set. It's not a bad set per se. It's not entirely accurate of the period, but it has got potential. Personally, my set is going into a 1920's scene... when I get through all my reviews etc :-)

Rudi, I imagine you would rate the ICM figures about the Emhar?
Yes, I'll probably have to convert to create Americans which isn't too bad. I was expecting to have to do conversions from WW II subjects so this isn't as bad.
Thanks again,
Kevin

I like ICM's figures. Their WW1 stuff is already getting hard to find--they never were imported into the US, apparently, and I've only been able to order them from European sources. The Germans are mid to late war, but could be kitbashed with the ICM Franco-Prussian War figures to produce 1914 soldiers (mainly for the Pickelhaube helmets).
Picked up Emhar's British 18 Pounder and German 77mm field guns. Figures are almost entirely worthless, but the guns are buildable, though very simplified.
Scale Link had an extensive white metal series of 1/32nd scale WW1 figures and accessories. Don't know if they are still available.

I started a WW1 dio, bought the Emhar figures then threw them away they were that bad. I suppose they're okay as toy soldiers but on that note they were terrible compared to the airfix ones I played with in the 1970's. I've looked at the Scale Link site but it's only line drawings. I'm not paying £7.50 for a figure which I have no idea how good it is. Can anyone actually say how good the ICM figures are and their potential for multiposing? If so I may invest in some after building a trench!

This is where I chime in and apologise to Rudi for still not doing any photos of my ICM figures to go with the review text I sent a while ago
The ICM British figures aren't bad (IMHO they are slightly better than Tamiya), but there are some issues with how the Pattern 08 webbing is portrayed. Most of the issues are pretty anoraky and shouldn't stop you buying the figures. I just wish the sculptor had looked at the boxart!

Placed my order with NetMerchants last nite late (just before midnite KC time here in the US)
and got an e-mail this morning informing me that my order for the ICM German WWI figures had been "dispatched".
That is REAL service!

Scale Link are really good considering the age of the figures. They were originally produced in the early 80's The heads are by Roger Saunders and the would be good for a diorama.

Greetings all,
My apologies for not replying sooner.
Check out Japanese Armour King - they have British, American and German WW! figures that look excellent.
They also have an interesting range of Japanese infantry, tanks and artillery.

The ICM WWI German Figures arrived from NetMerchants today. Ordered them a week ago today. Pretty good delivery from across the pond.
Figures aren't bad. I'd compare them to earlier Dragon figures.
Replace the heads with Hornet or whomever.
The weapons and such are not bad as well. Definitely not Gen2 but workable.
Afterall when it comes to WWI figs the selection is limited and with these the price is right.
