** see update post below this one (from me) **

Some people asked that I let everyone know how much has been contributed to the server upgrade, which sounded like a good idea to me. I would like to thank everyone who has donated for their time and money. It is certainly well appriciated. Here are the current stats:

Donations to date:

Paypal: $230.00
Amazon: $30.00 (another $30 duplicate transaction was cancelled)
Mail: $0.00 (but I am awaiting the deluge!)
Prizes Converted: $230.00 *

Grand Total: $490.00
Upgrade Cost: $759.00 (without backup drive) $909.00 (with backup RAID drive)

* Note: Many of our prize winners from the Spring Content Drive graciously declined me sending them a cash equivilent of their prize in favor of supporting the site or upgrading the server. Why was I sending them cash instead of their kit/prize? Well that's a long story but suffice to say that many of the kits which were to be fulfilled by one of our members, who has gone AWOL. I would like to thank him for delivering on (that I know of) one of the more expensive items, the Tamiya Dragon Wagon, and also in case he ever reads this, that there are no hard feelings and I am convinced that something very important must be going on that diverted his attention elsewhere. That said I felt I couldn't wait any longer to clear this up, and I am VERY grateful that many of the prize winners have decided to "re-invest" their winnings in the site. It will be remembered.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks for posting the update. The stats are great news. I'm waiting for a transfer from my bank account to PayPal and then my $20.00 will be enroute. The donations have obviously been outstanding. Let us know if there is any other way we can help out or if you decide to raise the "maximum" donation allowed.

I am happy to state (unfortunately without the exact figures at hand) that we have reached the level where I can do the minimum cost of the server set-up fee for the switch/over to a dedicated server. This amount being the $759.00.

The only thing I am waiting on now is to see if a recent advertising inquiry comes through and some additional money is available to do the RAID backup addition. Which I think would be a really good capability to have.

Thanks SOOOOooo much to everyone who donated. If I did not send you an email or recognition of your donation please forgive me, but I will certainly try to catch up with all my email soon and do that.

With appriciation,
Jim

A good day for 'Big A' and a testament to the tight knit 'family' we have at this site.
