Well in true geek fashion,I have preordered one from great models.Lets see what happens.

If it all pans out, will you do a build review? I'd love to see that kit go together! I can't even imagine how many pieces that thing is...

I'm just wondering if this thing is a go yet? Didin't they want 500 - 1,000 commitments with each of them sending in $75 - $100 for a preorder before they would even start to make this kit.? I think I'll pass on this (even if I could afford such a ridiculous price).

According to the modelbaucenter, the minimum is 2000 pre-orders.

It also says that should the project NOT go into production, all downpayments will be re-imbursed.

Still, that's just talk, one can say.

Oh, and if you cancel your order, you will NOT get the downpayment back.

Cool. So as I understand it these guys get to bank about a quarter of a million dollars and draw interest on it while they are ramping up production?

I missed may calling, big time.

Developing a 1/35 tank I remember as being quoted at about 100,000 dollars.

This being a tad larger, it could be the right amount of money they need to get things started.

The Dora shown was a scratchbuild.

I personally believe that nothing is yet produced with which the kit can be manufactured.

Hey Guys,
I built the 1/144th scale Dora, It was boxed by Fujimi but actually made by Metal Troops of Hong Kong. The kit seemed to consist of 1 /144th parts and 1/87th parts. Mostly the ladders seemed way out of scale,I replaced some of them with N gauge ladders from the local train shop. The instruction sheet left out many of the parts or only listed one side but made no mention if a corresponding part should be place on the other side.
Sorry for the quality of the pictures........

The overall length is about 22 inches long X 6 inches tall with the barrel level.

Ok,
to clear some rumors here:

this kit is already in production, the molds are in progress and Modellbau-Center Koeln and Modelers-Paradise Ltd.Co. are supposed to get a sample form the test shots soon, they will makes pictures and send to their customers.
The box size is avout 120cm x 55cm x 65 cm and its weight is about 20KG.
The Manufacturer also raised the MSRP to USD 800,- and a further raise could be possible.
So all those who placed their preorder in time may smile !
Because they pay only the pre-order price.
This beast is produced in Hong Kong, initialised by Heller Germany.
Modelbau-Center Koeln in Germany exports them to the USA where Modelers-Paradise Ltd.Co.distributes them online to other shops and customers.
Heller Germany stated that they needed a certain amount of preorders to give this production green light. But at a very early stage green light was already given and molds are being worked on.
So all those who like to think its some sort of conspiracy or mass deceiving of anyone who wants to get rich with this deal: wake up !
Just because one cannot imagine that....does not mean it is not real.
Or do we still fear to fall off the world into the universe when walking over edge?
All I know is that we are all very excited to see the first sprues.

Have a good time modeling

At first, I looked at the price tag and thought, "there is no way I am going to buy the kit." Then I just realized it is cheaper than a stupid Louis Vuitton bag my girlfriend had asked me for her b-day. At least the kit is 2 meters long! If that girl were bold enough to ask for some small piece of leather for $860, I deserve to ask her to buy me this kit for Christmas!

You haven't been married before, have you?
Just because she thinks it's reasonable to ask you for a $860 purse has absolutely no bearing on how reasonable it is to request a $700 model.

Just you wait....

I see that they are going to make this. Maybe the feisty guy that made the comments about walking off the edge of the world was unaware that they wanted a thousand folks to commit 70 bucks each before they would even start trying to produce anything. Now in this country that is the way most scams start, so darn right we are suspicious.

Stating crap like this is result of being NOT informed and telling hear-say.
You should know that who ever brought THIS rumor alive was WRONG !
NO ONE ever asked for a thsd. preorders by 70 bucks prepayment.

This is only pee-pot-parole !

They stated that they need enough preorders to start the kit. That means preorders from the shops and dealers and distributors ! NOTHING else !
The distributor Modelers-Paradise Ltd.Co. in the USA asked for a down payment of USD 90 to validate the preorder of their customers. THIS had NOTHING to do with what you stated above. they are also not producing this kit nor does Heller or Fujimi produce this kit ! All these are distributors only and just because they place their sticker on the kit does not mean they produce it. Get your facts right, ok?
