Who decides when a group build starts and what will be built? I'd like to participate in one of these but it seems like I've come in during the middle of several already underway.

Grifter, I think it's pretty much decided by site members, you can have an idea then people interested will participate.

We have an FAMO build going on now/.....

There's also a pre 1900 figure build underway.

I've been doing a little home work on the side to determine just what was the set time frame for Operation Barbarossa. This will help determine what types of AFVs would have been there. Good chance to knock out an early German or Russian bantam tank.

I have some questions about these group builds Are the kits to be built out of box? Or are we allowed to use as much A.M as we want? I would love to particapate in the Barbarossa one I want to do a Panzerjaeger 1 from Zvezda I know I'll need to use photo-etch and probably FriulModel tracks to replace the bad kit tracks
If I can't use a lot of A.M.stuff,I can probably build the DML SdKfz 250/10 halftrack that was armed with a 37mm gun I'll have to check around first to see if that was used in the invasion

I knew about the figure build but clue me in on the Operation Barbarossa build. I think that would be fun. I don't know how I missed it.

I would like information on the Operation Barbarossa build as well. I also missed mention of it.

I started an Operation Barbarossa thread. Like the actual invasion, this group build will start during the summer solstice, which, as you should know, is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The actual invasion began 22 June 1941, the solstice this year is 21 June 2003. Close enough for me.

Operation Barbarossa was the initial invasion by the German Army into the Soviet Union. For the group build's sake, the "official" dates will be June 1941 to December 1941, since this was the proposed "end" of the operation when Russia would fall to Germany. Vehicles in use during this period are acceptable.
