Hi the uniform when first issued was a medium olive drab , but it soon faded to any shade from original to light yellow sandy knaki . No judge worth his salt can fault you as they have not examined the real object or had 40 years of study on uniforms as I have as colator abnd researcher to museum cheers ian

Hi,
Nice to meet you here, Ian!
I would think the uniform we are referring to is the Luftwaffe tropical uniform - which was a sand colour. It was the Afrika Korps tropical Army uniform, the one which initially was manufactured in a distinct olive shade. Of course, as Ian has very aptly commented, both presented a myriad of tones, depending on manufacturing variations, fading and the like. The Army uniforms were also made in a sand tone. The pattern of the uniforms was different, however.
BTW, the very first Luftwaffe units arriving in the African theatre were issued with the Army tropical uniform, because their own uniform was not still available.
Regards,
Daniel
