Hi everyone!
I wanted to show you an update of my progress. None of the shutters nor the window or curtains are glued in place so far. Clear plastic will of course be added to the window later, and inner windows for the upper windows too.

How does it look? What do you think so far?

And some questions...
There should be stones on the ground, the flat rectangular type. How do I do them best? Scribe in the pattern in putty? Cut them out in sheet plastic or cork perhaps?
Do the curtains look ok as a "I haven't built anything inside"-protection? Can I do the same upstairs?

Any comments welcome!
Thanks for watching!

Looks good so far. nice job.
The way the shutters are installed they are simply ornamental/decorative in nature - is that the way you wanted them to be? They are mounted fairly far away from the window and wouldn't close properly if they were 'functional' This is ok if thats what you wanted.

The street stones - it would be easy to scribe them in a thin sheet of plaster. If you use cork I would put a very thin layer of putty over the cork to fill in some of the cork texture and make them smoother and well worn.

The curtains look ok in color and texture. Remember to hang them centered so the seam/gap in down the middle.

Thanks for street stone tips Scott! The shutters are not in their final position, I will install hinges and put them right ones I have textured the wall.

Hi Andreas,
Your buildings are going to look fantastic when they are done!Keep in mind the comments Scott mentioned, and for the cobbled area try maybe to have one or two raised out of the ground on an angle as if it has come lose and crudely placed back.
The shutters look very well done and i imagine that you have spent alot of time to get so detailed!
Keep up your good efforts mate,
Cheers,Shay

Looking very good, Andreas. Impressive work. I would go with the cork if I were you, particularly in this scale. Cut individual stones out and glue them in place. That way you can mismatch them in places to make it more realistic.

Shay, The two big shutters took about one day to do... Lots of fault and bad cuts but they went fine in the end... Bad placed stones will be remembered!

David, I will probably do it like that, if I find some cork in this city, haven't found any yet At what kind of store should I watch for cork?

Andreas,
Usually if you go to the local hardware store or do it yourself shop you should generally find some there.Might pay to make a phone call first to the stores, save you running around from place to place! Some stores who specialise in flooring products like tiles etc. should have them also, cork is starting to come back in with people using it to decorate their walls and floors.
Cheers mate,Shay

Great details Andreas. I was unsure earlier, mainly because of the thickness (or lack of) on the card, but you´ve done amazing work with the timber and plastic shutters. The stonework around the arch is another great detail. The step-out above the arch is the best .... really gives the 3D effect. Impressive.

In jyskbädlagger they have cork serving placements for kitchen tables. They are quite big and you get 2 for 25:-. They had a sale before the summer and I got 2 packets (4 st.) for 25:- They are 2mm thick. They seem to be a standard item for Jysk. Have you a local one?

Another item you should look into is "granit-färg". Panduro Hobby sells this stuff. Its an acrylic paint with granit dust in it, and when painted over items, gives a stone effect. Its from a company called Eberhard Faber. I also use it for painting the underneath of vehicles to give a dirt build up appearance. See below.

Kiwi's right. You can get large sheets of cork that are made for the floor (about 4mm thick) this is perfect for cobblestones, bricks and many other 1/16 things.

Shay and David, Thanks for tips!

Franck, Do you live in Sweden? Well, there should be some local Jysk around somewhere, I guess I should try find it... Granitfärgen might be intresting too, think I saw something like it at my LHS for several years ago...

Hey Andreas. Ive lived in Sweden for 10.5 years. The area is called Sollentuna, in the surburbs, north of Stockholm. Still Irish though! :-) :-)
