Hello all,
I have looked over this group but have not found any dissusions on how to make weld seams on our armor. I was able to reproduce the seams a little bit on my Sherman Firefly I just built using Testors model glue, but not to the extent I would like.
Thanks

I have used a hot knife with an old x-acto blade ground to the right size. I have a rheostat for my old Dremel to control the temperature to keep it getting to hot. I will score or make small notches and then smooth it over with the tip or liquid cement can be used. I've read about some folks who use putty which will work well when the weld ditches some manufacturers use.

Derek,
Check this out, it's an article on reproducing weld beads in the features section of the site.

An easy way to reproduce a weld seam is to use thin styrene rod or streched sprue and then "melt" it with Tamiya super thin glue. Apply the rod and glue to your model, wait a few minutes and then form it with a # 11 blade.

Very cool!
That was exactly the info I was looking for. I have a Tamiya 1/48 Panther coming in the mail, and I can't wait to tear into it. Question though, what is milliput? I have not seen it in the hobby stores around here, is there a comparable product?
Thanks again,
-Derek

There is also Apoxie Sculpt from Aves. If you can't find Milliput or Apoxie Sculpt in your area they are both readily available from numerous online sources.
