I for one cannot wait for the M16 in 1/16th, but an even bigger release (at least for me that is) is the 10.5cm le.F.H.18/6 (Sf) auf Geschuetzwagen III/IV "Heuschrecke IVb"!!
I think Bandai had this once in 1/32nd scale and ebay sellers made off handsomely with selling it. Now Trumpeter will release it ... brand new!
Then there's the Soviet Tank Transporter Maz537, which I need a military truck in my little collection!

IIRC the Bandai Heuschrecke was something strange, like 1/30th, I remember seeing one or two in a shop in Cardiff at the time and wishing i could afford one.

Lol Years of crying for a decent 1:35 halftrack and now the market gets flooded with them.
What will be the next subject for the allied vehicle fans
I particularly like the Grille II by the way and the heuschrecke is nice too. On teh sunnier side of life I now have a decent choice in what vehicle to buy to scratchbuilt my sonic Boys Halftrack
With friendly greetz

Yea but 1.16 is a whole other ball game. Would anyone complain about a $100 1/16 M1A1 AIM or Sherman with full interiors?

I'm enthusiastic about the M16 (in 1/16th scale) however, I must admit to being less sure about the 1/35th H/T scale kits. Simply put, they are going to be a lot cheaper, but I doubt that they'll have all the extras we've become accustomed to. I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that when it comes to the engineering (which we're all taking as standard) Trumpeter lack a little 'finesse' - great with their Soviet kits less so with German subjects. Now, if the superb engineering that AFV Club are capable of was applied to the U.S. Halftracks, yes. I really do hope i'm wrong on this...Jim

Now Jim....don't be so rash! I've built their KV-2, SA-6, Sturer Emil, and LAV in the past year or so. They have all been extremely buildable and actually the fit has been a la DML on the kits.
There is still a lack of finesse in some areas and accuracy isn't 100%, but what kit really is perfect?
I myself wish companies would stop making new announcements right now and release some old announcements! In Trumps case I want the MAZ NOW!!

The 1/35 halftracks will do fine and dandy I'm sure.Jim, just think of them as Trumpeter's version of the 'Smart Kit' Plenty of AM menu to choose from for detail and conversions.(Very interested in the AT varient )
Detail them up as far as AM and scratch you want to go.
What a Golden Era for us big kids!

Competition! Given what a bit of fierce competition did for DML's and AFV Club's 251 HT it really bodes well for a great run of US HT. I doubt we would have seen half the variants they ended up doing if not for the competition.
I already have the Trumpeter M3 75mm GMC built in my head.
The GOLDEN age of the Allied Modeller is truly with us.
I've been modelling in 35th since 72 (and 76th before that) and cannot remember a greater time.
DML even got the kinks in the Sherman III hoods - How good is that!

Well, the M3 GMC is definitely on my wish list for both the African and the Pacific theatre it is a great complementer for any new Shermans. The M16 is somewhat a personal favourite, that was the first armor I had built.
The german SP heavy artillery is going to be a boom with three of this new items.
But I have to join to Stuke: I want to see the promised ones! I hope that these announcements won't be the case of the DML M4A2 what we have waited for three(?) years.

That are really lovely new additions. The Grille II!! That is going to be one nice kit to build. It will look awesome I am sure.... Does anybody know if it reashed prototype stage or entered operational use?
The 1/16 M16 is an unusual choice for a 1/16 kit, but if it is as good as the T-34 versions it should be okay. Now I wonder about figures....there really are not enough figures for 1/16 armour. I am still looking for a commander for my 1/16 T-34/76 model 43......

Are you kidding me! What a great time to be an armor builder! My stash is going to have to get bigger. Heck my wife can store her shoes in the garage! I do have to say that it has made me a little sad to see the Tamiya section in my local hobby shop shrink to about 15% of the shelf space. DML, Trumpeter, and AFV Club are taking over. I love all the new kits, but it is sad to see Mr. T sit idly by and seemingly not even put up a fight..

I guess I see it is a shame that even before Trumpeter has shown a prototype someone has already bashed them. Of course given the prejudice for Dragon and AFV it is understandable. I build a lot of the new 350 scale ship kits that Trumpeter has been releasing as well as their KV series of 35th scale Armor. Trust me guys, they build good quality. Not everything is picture perfect 100% totally accurate as with any kit. I'm sure the nitpickers will have stuff to complain about. But at least wait until you have something in your hand before you begin the attacks. For the past three years you guys have cried and cried about US halftracks. Now you have at least 2 companies that I am aware of prodcing new ones. I guess some people have it in their nature to complain about everything. Had a guy at work like that we used to say that if he ever won the 20 million dollar lottery he would complain at the color of the check they gave him.

Does the world need another M3A2?
David
As far as I'm concerned, they could skip the M3A2, as production stopped in 1944 at around vehicle number 19 (the Army concluded, perhaps prematurely, that they had enough halftracks for the remainder of the war). A new M3 and M3A1 are very much needed, and it's a shame they plan to do the M21 instead of the much more common M4A1 mortar halftrack. Still, this was based on the M2, so maybe Dragon will trot one out shortly.
