If I were partly responsible for getting the forum closed down, I can't say I feel too bad about it. For the most part the discussions were interesting and very civil.
But, I think that lately they were just arguments. Even if they were started with a valid point usually someone just tried to start a war for the sake of a war.
I also think people need to think about what they say, even when using a smiley face next to it. I wouldn't exclude myself from that, but I don't think others should either.
But, I don't feel angry at people who felt they were defending things that they believed in either...

To the members of Armorama:
As I wrote earlier, if I offended anyone I apologize. However, for at least one member of this site holding a differing opinion my apology was not accepted. I made it in a sincere attempt to calm what had spun wildly out of control.
I was under the impression the forum was to be used for current events and the only limit was to refrain from obscene speech. I did this, but posted what I felt would have brought about spirited debate about a most topical current event - the pending war with Iraq. (I also posted another on President Reagan's 92nd Birthday) Unfortunately, some in our midst took the occasion to degrade this into a debate on which country did more to win WWII.
I am sorry the decision to pull the plug on the forum was made. I found it interesting to see the differences in opinion people can have despite their common interest in a subject. I will continue to support this site and even once in a while lend my 2 cents on occasion.
Until my next posting I remain GSP.

GSP,
I am sorry to hear that your apology was not accepted by that individual and I feel sorry for him also.
The current events forum just went out of control and there were a lot of harsh words said on and offline of this site. But whatever difference in opinion we have we ALL are modelers and we love our hobby and we love to share them.
This makes this site so unique, we are all different but in a sense we are all alike :-)
I hope you do it more than just once in a while, please be a contributor like you have been in the past, let (and this go's for everyone here) let it all in the past! It is not worth giving up on this site for it there is so much to gain here.

its a shame that the current events are gone. i figure if you get angry over it then dont read it.. no one forced anyone to read or post. that was personal decision. if you opt in that you have to take responsibility for what you do and how you interpret other people. I think the site lost something when the current events went the way of the dinosurs. I've never found anything offensive, cause i take stuff with a grain of salt, i would hope others could do the same. but whatever, armorama is still a great site!!
Cheers,
Paul

Evidently, I missed something really big in the CE forum. I did enjoy ready everyone's views. It is interesting as an American from the southeast to read how folks from around the world view the same topics with such different opinions. I regret that as a cross section of the different cultures, we could not get along any better than the rest of the world. Anyway, my hat is off to Jim for doing what is necessary to keep the peace.
