Now that we have a veritable slew of new-tool half-tracks announced, what will be the new "most wanted" for allied modellers?

Someone in another thread suggested a series of DML new-tool Churchills..........mmmmmmmmmm

A lot will depend on what the various 'Peanut Galleries' around the 'web decide is the next priority :-)

The priorities will be decided by the model companies themselves. Whether people accept it or not, the hobby is, in general, Industry-driven. It's virtually impossible to see trends developing although one that may begin now is large-scale armor. 1/48th scale will receive a good boost with the first HobbyBoss KVs announced in Tokyo although the surprise was NO new 1/48th scale kits announced by Tamiya.

Shermans will continue to be the 'dominant' vehicle in U.S./Commonwealth releases - particularly with DML who now have a lot in place (new suspension and hulls) for some interesting future releases.

The next Holy Grail? Undoubtedly the Churchill although it's not a vehicle which will be easy to tool with the differences in hul/turret arrangements. My guess is Churchills or constant demands for the (REAL) Holy-Grail of British A/Cs - if anyone does them (and I doubt they will) it'll be Bronco although their release schedule is positively glacial by other companies' standards... Many vehicles will remain in the hands of the Resin manufacturers.

Maybe more tinned-bread?

British Armoured Cars of course. They seem to crop up most often in wish lists. Not for me though I have enough Shermans in the Stash and on pre order from HLJ to last me a couple of years.

Churchill will definately be one of them. I too have seen that mentioned alot over the years on many different forums. I have also seen Japanese armor asked for in many forums.

Who knows. As long as they keep making German and Russian armor, Im a happy man.

On the Allied side:

Churchills, British A/Cs, US 240mm M1 Gun (heck it doesn't even exist in resin 1/35)

Maybe an M29 Weasel or Studebaker truck. (Although the Studebaker is supposed to be coming)

How about an M4A3E2 Jumbo? or an Updated Valentine? A French Unic halftrack would be nice too (I know I'm dreaming here...)

Another one that has been asked for, time and time again, is civilian type cars (for dioramas) .. to include those that were transformed to military vehicles. With the possibilities of extra interest from the auto guys, this could be a winner. Tamiya´s 1/48 citroen was quite popular, although I havent seen much of it lately. I think if this was upscaled, it would stand a much better chance!

Ahhh...it would have to be a Duplex Drive Sherman, either with or without the screen. Now that would be bliss!

A daimler or Staghound would be nice in injection as well!

I'm with Frank(Platicbattle) as far as civilian vehicles to be used with dioramas. There's so much more to our hobby than just building a tank. Also, I wish Dragon would consider some variety like Tamiya used to do with some accessories kits that have their nice jerrycans with the photo-etch... some weapons sets... A couple sets with a variety of ammo and ammo boxes... a set with things like street lights, water hydrants, maybe some small structures.. and these can even be incorporated into figure sets. Just some small items that help in building a small dio or vignette. Look at how popular the Miniart buildings are becoming.. even though they take a lot of hard work to build.

I'm sorry to say this, but as great as Dragon are in making detailed vehicles.. they lack some imagination. I think it would be better for them to pace themselves as far as putting out tanks and vehicles and start diversifying a little with the occasional accessory set or "street elements" set or weapons set.

As I always say, wishing for things don't cost nothing.

A Scammell Pioneer Tank Transporter from Tamiya would be nice. German heavy trucks and trailers, such as the Faun light tank transporter, the Bussing NAG 4500, and the Culemeyer trailers. M4 and M5 high speed tractors.

Scammel tractor sure would be nice, other Airfix-ish grail in 1:35 - AEC Matador. It should be truck anyway, as I think trucks are the most neglected genre in the whole 'afv's' lot?

Cheers

My personal holy grail list would be any (or all) of the following:
British Cruiser A9 etc
Sherman M4 , M4A1 and M4A2 dv versions (DML or Academy please)
6 pdr AT with Crew Mk II (middle east)
6 pdr with Crew Mk IV NWE
M1 57mm NWE US crew
17 pdr AT with Crew NWE
Humber Scout Car
Daimler Mk 1/2 AC
Staghound Mk 1/2
Scammell Tank Transporter
Churchill Mk II, III, IV with alternates in Box such as 6pdr/75 or 95 mains
Churchill AVRE IV with SBG
Sherman DD - (Come on DML use the vinyl that the mantlet covers are done in)

As you can see I don't really want much but given the current environment I'm sure we will see quite a few of these soon

I hope an injection molded "Jumbo" is soon to be a reality. I wouldn't mind seeing a variant of the M3 Lee, the M31 Tank Recovery Vehicle would be nice, too. I know there are resin kits for these; but injection molded and affordable kits would be great. Just my 2 cents worth, Dave

hmmmm, lets see
an injection molded
M911 and M747
M1070 HETT
35th scale D9 bulldozer
I would also be happy with an
M916A2 with a M870 trailer to go with it.

But I know none of this is very likely

Greetings all,

hmmm, what would I like to see next;

British Armoured Cars
Churchill Funnies - I was encouraged by the release of the German Bridge layer LOL, LOL. - someone is thiking bridges.
Shermans, 105mm early and an early Dozer plus a DD all of which are possible given that Dragon have the hulls all sorted and Academy have the blade and both have the later 105mm.
Reworked Universal Carrier in it's various guises, MG, 3" Mtr etc

Some armour would be great for the early war years, new Matilda's and Vickers Light Tanks.

Not stirctly armour but I'd like to see Italeri keep growing their small boat range, a salvale boat and maybe a small LCT ha, ha. Their trucks are good so some updates there would be nice, an Austin Tilly, and a few of the other Allied/Axis early vehicles.

Some great releases coming out that should keep me busy while the planning and design departments get to work :-) :-) :-) :-)

Nice to see an update for the M5A1 from AFV Club.

Lots of wonderful kits to look forward too and the years not over yet!!!!

:-) :-) :-)

Cheers

I would like to see a US Artillery Tractor or an updated Ambulance to replace the outdated / oop Italeri version.

I would also...and I know this is German....would like to see an updated SdKfz 7 (hopefully from Dragon) to tow their excellent Flak 88.

I agree with that there is a void in the market for civilian vehicles.

As a WWII German fan I am already overwhelmed by the amount of rare and obscure vehicles coming out this year and 2007!

I think the competition between Dragon, Trumpeter and AFV Club is great for the Military niche of the hobby.
Healthy competition makes for great choices!

I think a Churchill would be the most versatile Allied kit next. Of course that's after they do all 1056 variants of the Sherman

An updated USMC AAV. Its the last modern piece of common US ground combat equipment not updated by model manufacturers in the last 10 or more years.

We've had the M1 Abrams series done (even the Panther), the LAV, the Bradley, the Humvee, the M113, the M109A6, the various 5tons trucks, HEMTTs, now the Stryker series. I am sure there is some odd ball stuff out there, but the AAVA1 is not an oddball item in our inventory.

Well I definitely on the side of the wheeled vehicles now. I'm sure that the constant flow of Sherman and H/T variants will come anyhow, as the manufacturers will try to bring out the most from their existing developments.

On the top of my wish list is an accurate and detailed Willys MB. The new (new?) Tamiya has vanished, only the old Italeri and Tamiya kits are on the market.
The others are trucks (Bedford, Matador, a new LRDG Chevy or Ford), armoured cars (Staghound yessss!).

If tracked ones, definitely a Matilda and an M7 Priest (although I hope that Academy will continue on with the M3-based variants).
