Hi,
I just saw new Gebirgsjagers figures on the Dragon website. 2 standing and 2 with a 5cm light mortar. Says it will be out in January.

Yeah Chris, the box-art was on display at the Tokyo Show as well. I'm trying to get some images of the figures so the poses can be roundly criticized for being 'static'

How about you post a link to the page, because it seems I'm too dumb to find these guys on the DML page...

I'm a little confused by this set . The two with the mortar...fantastic.Nice poses, very versatile. But the two standing about? Thats what confuses me.Given that the range of the mortar is 800m I don't think they'd be standing up. They'd have been better in crouching positions in cover but thats just my opinion. I'll probably buy a couple of boxes of these just for the mortar crew though as they do look like good figures which can be adapted. Never let it be said I never buy Germans :-) :-) :-)

The same for me Karl, the two with the mortar are in nice action poses. But the two others are looking like they are walking in the park, chatting about the beautiful ducks floating on the pound....IMO they would fit more using an MG34...Have seen a lot of Gebirgsjagers pictures with MG34, could have an inpisration for Dragon, next time maybe.

Anyway, at the price they will sell it I will have no worry buying it only for the 2 mortar men!

Overall it's quite nice

Yep - I'm in the same boat - I'll buy for the mortar team and relegate the two standing guys to the spares box.

Perhaps a kit bash / combo of them with the dragon Handschar set might yeild some nice poses.

It all depends on what you want from a general box of figures, IMO.
Its a fair comment ... if, for every dio, you use the figures from one box only. As Andy D has indicated, swapping things around can have a lot of possibilities.
Eventhough, 2 of the figures have nothing to do with the scene you have planned in your head, they still look like pretty useful figures and maybe are the 2 positive figures from the set in another modellers opinions. In fact they could be used easily with the older Gebirgsjagers set. Now what to do with those 2 action figures.

Im not trying to stir things .... everybody is entitled to an opinion. That all 4 figure sets are adaptable to one situation can be considered normal. But a lot of modellers buy a box of figures on the strength of one or two poses, is another plausible consideration. The two discussing figures have lots of potential as well. That this set offers figures to suit 2 different scenes, Dragon get more bang for their buck.

Frank, I'm just about to change my mind...

AndyD, Handschar Division they were SS. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think they can be mixed with Gebirgsjagers because of their uniforms.

Even if they cannot, the legs, arms and poses can be adpated to suit .. some kit-bashing and some scratching.

Another interesting set from DML. Again they weem to be going to the 2x2 sets of figures. Each two show a different "story". Sort of like the Staligrad Inferno set.
