hi guys, just completed this little gem. this my first attempt at this kind of paint job, mistakes and all. A friend told me about the concept of using templates only after I finished the paintjob.
First time using Gunze Sangyo weathering pastels, both wet and dry. There are no paint chips and rust streaks, just the way I like it. Still learning how to improve my skills, so all comments welcome

The paint job looks great! You have a very good hand with your airbrush. Two things I noticed however:

1) your breach block is missing -- hard to fire a shell without that piece!

2) your photo shows that your left wheel looks a little crooked. It's amazing what digital photography will show in our own models. I now use it as a method to discover areas that need to be corrected!

Having built one and knowing the overall size of the finished item isn't large, the dapple effect you've produced is very well executed. Other than the items Roy pointed out, you've got a nice build on your hands.

thanks guys,
here's the story behind it which might help explain roy's points:

SWMBO with hairdryer near workbench one morning loses her grip. CRASH! pieces of plastic flying all over. I recovered everything and managed to glue broken parts. The Pak40 survived intact, with breech block missing. I still cannot find it to this day.

Since the breech block was missing, I felt I had nothing left to lose on this model and had a go with the dapples, using this as a lead up to an eventual mottle paint job on my BF-109.

The bad alignment is bad construction, no excuses from me. I've tried to coax it back into alignment, but it was creaking a bit, and I suspect I was close to breaking point. Just a word of warning for guys building this one. DO NOT test fit the rubber tires. They fit. The tires exacerbated the alignment problem because all that test fitting by me pulled them out of shape.

Lessons learnt: NEVER let SWMBO near the workbench.
Don't give up on any model.
Keep my sense of humour.

I posted the model despite it's faults since things like that happen to us all. Rather than leaving it uncompleted or trashing it, salvaging the project could still be a fun experience.

Nice paint job, Lim. Sorry for your loss though. I am sure it will turn up one day when you are not looking.

Only after he attempts to scratchbuild a replacement and is ready to install it. The carpet monster is a cruel and malicious beast. :-)
