Looks great if it came straight out of the factory. You need to beat the hell out of it with some weathering and get it nice and worn! Yeah now we are talking! get some nice fuel and oil stains on it not to forget a couple peanut butter stains on the top by the commanders hatch because you know they love the peanut butter and crackers!!

Uhhmm, it is still a work in progress. He hasn't even started weathering yet. Check his gallery to see how they look when done. You may think you are looking at actual tanks form Attack Pos Metallica when you do.

Nick, in pre-planning the operation 3rd ID named each objective, including planned stops for refueling and rearming, etc. Objective Metallica was the staging area for some units prior to crossing the border.
Thanks Bob, ....that's a very interesting map...got a bigger one?
Asking a massive question.. where can I find out more information on each of those Objectives of all the Tank units of the Army and Marine operations from the time of entry into Iraq, all the way to the taking of Baghdad and then being stationed or sent out to the various areas of Iraq for sweeping resistance, giving troop support, patroling, etc.
It would be interesting to see the "history and present course".

Nick, I could PM you this map if you want. You would be able to read it then.
I doubt you will be able to read about ALL the objectives and routes for all units. This one exists since 2nd Bde, 3rd ID produced these after returning, for posterity, and my co-author got a copy. Other units probably did something similar but they have not been published.
Also, either this map, or one similar to this was printed in the Thunder Run book by David Zucchino.

Your models are so fantastic Milo! This one is coming along very nicely, and looks superb. I cant wait to see the entire company! I really must start my M1A1, im going to try and build all the vehicles from 2nd platoon with the commemorative slogans on the barrels, a friend gave me the decal set for free.
It would be cool to see a model of A14 after its tires got ripped apart.

That would be Great! Please email [email protected]
It's too bad about the attainability of all the info ... since this was the most massive mobilisation of the Abrams ever.
I'll look for the book.
Cheers Bob.

Nick,
We had a similar map in First Brigade also and no, I did not keep a copy as we had were paper ones, no digital copies.
Additionally, OPERATION DESERT STORM used more Abrams in actual ground combat than OIF... We used less tanks and pushed them farther, both logistically and materially than the forces did in 1991.
