Hey everyone if you go to www.perthmilitarymodelling.com you'll find an excellent review of the new DML kit. Terry Ashley does the review and he's a guy who's oppinion I respect. He basically says the model is very simple and lacks detail. The Tristar model is apparently coming out soon and will have many more multi-media parts...but..you can bet it will be very expensive. I'll probably just settle for the DML kit. $80.00 is all I'm willing to spend for one kit. Jeff

Wow! Kind of a big let down here. I was hoping that Dragon would have kept up their quality and attention to detail like they have done on their Panthers and other newer kits lately.

Wonder why they would do this? Would it have been that much more work for them to add some smaller parts and more detailing and such? $80+ seems kind of high for this thing if it's no better that how he wrote it up. If I'm going to be spending that kind of money I would rather put in a bit more and get a really nice kit as opposed to a just so-so kit. I was really looking forward to this one being as good as the Panther family is. Oh well. Sure wouldn't see Tamiya pulling this, I don' t think anyway.

Take care, sgrity

Hey guys, I actually have the kit!!!! and for all that is being said on all the sites, i personally think it has a bad rep, and its only available in asia right now!!!! i've seen the scetch's for tristar's kit, all the extra parts are in breaking down the suspension and creating a full seperate breach assemly, DML's moldings are beautiful and there was no rush!! only mistakes i have seen are in the instructions!!! and the transport mode everyone is complaining about is when the Karl morser is RAiSED on the rail transport system..... DOHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS tristar going to add the rail transport system to their line who knows, its not announced!!! trumpeter says they will, but when i looked at their master kit, that was the karl morser CMK made in RESIN, so if you plan on buildind the KARL on the ground away DML's suspension is best otherwise you get to fight with 22 suspension to set them on the ground at the same level, as far as DML's molds i feel they are great and i posted pics of the sprues last week just look for the post and see for yourself!!!! Terry kindly didn't even do that yet, just complained as usual!!!!! we put faith in a guy who can't even finish a build up, pf a kit reveiw!!!! still waiting for the rest of the reveiw of the TMD bilstein crane fior the famo, and mine is almost done and past his laim stopping point in the reveiw... find the post on the Karl i did and judge your self, don't trust guys on web sites make your own choices guys!!! i pposted for you to decide on your own!!! stug

Thanks Major:

One in the hand is worth two in the bush. I'll keep an open mind with your comments on this kit and if I see one in the stores I'll take a look see at it for myself. But I'm going to look before leaping here. $80+ is a lot of money, so I want to be sure I'm getting my money's worth. I was sure concerned that Dragon had dropped the ball on this one, because I'm still foaming at the mouth on the rumors of the K (5) E railway gun in the future.

take care, sgrity.

Hi Stug

I agree with the spirit of your 'reader beware' comments. Slagging Terry Ashley doesn't seem fair. His site has a large number of reviews, he posts on TL, ML and other sites, and many of the reviews on his site have sprue shots, complete build ups etc. (Tamiya Cromwell, US TDs and more). You may disagree with him, and maybe he hasn't finished all his projects (like many of us!!! ), but I find PMMS a very good site, and a reliable source for reviews. Terry was the first to point out the flaws in the running gear of the Academy M3 for example.

And, if you have a look, you'll see there are sprue shots etc. on the PMMS review.

I really have liked Terry Ashley's reviews in the past and the Perth site in general. I think he is very fair. Don't blame him for making observations. That's the whole purpose of a review anyway. It may be part opinion, but in Terry's case I believe it to be an educated opinion.

Looking at some of the photos of Dragons 'Karl" sprues, even my untrained eye noticed a lack of the real small parts. For such a huge kit, it seems like too few parts.

But, I'm going to wait before I spend so much on a kit.

Me, I like as much detail in the box as possible. Especially for close to $100. Then, I can take it from there...

Yes everybody can find something to *itch about in all models. But if not for manufactures coming out with something new then we could *itch about that too, correct.
Heck for 56.00 not to bad and after all the aftermarket products that will follow I guess that will fix that.Actually I heard that tristars was suppose to be cheaper but who knows.
