I ran across this old kit by Midori. Much like most of their armor kits, it is 1/40 scale and powered by a wind up clockwork motor. Has anyone else run across this dinosaur?
Here are scans of the boxart, instructions, decals and sprues. In the bag are the eight rubber wheels (center four are different from the outer four), the clockwork motor and a small tube of cement that is long past its usefulness.

That is one odd-looking beast. I wonder why the four wheels in the center are raised in the first picture (and why they are different from the other four wheels). Looks like a pretty unique find, Rob.

Looks like the centre wheels are intended to provide extra traction on soft surfaces and wouldnt be much good on sealed roads and such.

Hi all,
the center wheels act like the belly wheels on the BRDMs. Moreover, they are plain steel with large ribs to gain traction on soft soils.
So they were normally raised and lowered on cross-country movements only. They should not be depicted as rubber wheels as in the kit. To all who like this vehicle, Azimut sells the Terres Modeles versions of it, one with the original turret and the other with the AMX13 turret;

Blast from the past! I never saw the French armored car, but Squadron used to sell Midori's 1/40th scale SdKfz 231 6-Rad armored car, SdKfz 250 halftrack, and Malkara antitank missile vehicle (Australian/British missile system on a Humber "Pig" armored car body).
