Can anyone tell me, or redirect me to an artikel, how to make the "wood" ammo storage inside a Achilles tank destroyer.
I bought the Academy model wich ,in the box, seems to be quit a catch.

Hello Peter,

Not quite sure what you mean by "wood" ammo storage. But if youPM me with your email address I have some interior drawings that may be of some use to you.

Cheers

I presume Peter is refering to the cardboard storage tubes that the rounds came in, and in which they were stored in the sponson.

British stowage practices had the rounds stored 'bare' without packing tubes.

David, did that require any modificatios to the storage racks? As they seem to be designed to hold Tubes, rather than rounds? If yes, I suppose that would require work o the Achilles kit, as IIRC the storage was basic enough as it is...

Definitely, Academy and AFV Club cheated on the stowage racks in their M10 17pdr models - try fitting one of the loose 17pdr rounds to see!

I'm now having qualms about the Littlefield Achilles photos as IIRC each layer had rounds stored alternately with bases and projectiles facing towards the front to economise on space. There is a nice archive shot somewhere on the net showing a view into the hull from the turret that shows this nicely - can I find it?

BTW it also shows a white floor to the fighting compartment.

BTW2 Academy get the turret stowage wrong too as there should be 4 Sten guns, stowed in pairs on each side of the turret.

This is definitely an Achilles, pic from Howitzer.dk

Note how the holes are different sizes depending on which way round the rounds are stored.

as I've seen pics of M10's overthere.

Thanks 4 the responses, Tha Pit
