Hi folks, after finishing my M548 Chilean Army I started the build odf this beast. Must say I was shocked after opening the box, what a great amount of plastic!

Anyway, this is my first truly multimedia kit, and a rather unknown subject for me. So I will ask all of you for assistance concerning to this tank. I will post updates regularly so you can give me pointers and advice. ThatŽs the reason to post a step by step.

Here are the first pics of the build, mainly lower and upper hull and wheels. I decided to place the wheels so I can get the kit sit right.

Cheers and thanks for looking

deze 2 moet je omdraaien daarom past die rechtse niet goed.
(sorry, don't know the words in english)

you guys already know witch versions youre gonna make??

What I had to do for this was to trim the grill opening so that the mesh screen would fit flush.

ALL 'BOUT DA BONES is the one i have chosen to represent.

The screens are right, you just have to shave the edge of the grill where i'm pointing to above for the screen to sit flat.

Didn't have any problems with the screens fitting on mine, the problem is Dragon mixes up the numbers in the instruction sheet. Here's a couple of pics of the real one that should illustrate.

right side

left side
(these photos are from Prime Portal http://www.primeportal.net/tanks/marc_peters/m1a1/ )

Note the position of the little square with the hole in it. I'll have an article of my build in an upcoming issue of Model Military International with any luck!

Cheers,
Jim

Just finished mine yesterday.

Weathered the tracks by chipping at them with with hobby knife.

Painted the tailights on the inside of the lense to make them seem more like glass. Gonna try that next time with the periscopes.

Gijs:

Super. Nice job on the 120mm mortar can too and the rest of the stowage. Weathering looks great also.

Can't wait to see the dio.

You might want to do your own thread since this was Klaus', and more people might get a chance to see your finished Abrams. Rick might want to do the same - nice job on the exhaust Rick.

Gijs,
Great looking kit and I love the weathering. My only suggestion would be to dirty up the crews uniforms to match the work look of their vehicle.

Jurgen, where did you get the metal main gun barrel and the photo etched parts from? Manufacturer? Ive been looking for some for the 1/35th M1A1 but cant seem to find them.
Im pretty new to the hobby and I have Dragon's M1A1HA Abrahams 1st Marine Tank Battalion kit set aside until I get a bit better. (Dont wanna ruin yet hehe) but I would love to get an aluminum barrel and photoetched details for it.
