Hello fellows!
This is my last work, a diorama titled "Last Chance In Loraine" in 1:35 scale representing the struggle in Nancy. The germans waiting the american tanks of Geoerge Patton in an ambush, in September 1944.
The buildings are scratch built with plaster, plastic sheet, metal and balsa wood. The 88mm gun is from Gragon with upgrade set by Voyager. The figures are Verlinden, Alpine and Hobbyfan.
Waiting for your suggestions!

Waiting for our suggestions?! Hehe...
I think it looks just about finished to me
A great effort and a spectacular layout to match...So all the buildings are scratchbuilt? Most impressive! I love the creek also...
I think the pink spire could do with a little more weathering? It stands out alittle too much, but that could be because of it's colour...
Maybe I could build the next dio of Patton dropping in on your party? :-)
Cheers
Brad

Hi Yannis,
What a lovely dio !!
one can smell the gasoils of Patton tanks approaching.
Very nice figures and the ss camo looks really detailled.
I just want to make one suggestion regarding the building. The tower look a bit russian to me. Not the whole, but just the top. The rest of the tower looks quite ok for a french churchor tower. Here is pics of french cathedrale in Nancy
The old town gate below could be your medieval construction :
This is the place St Stanislas, the most beautiful place of Nancy
Last comment : I found personnaly bizarre to have grass on the side of the street. If it's in the town of Nancy, it wouldn't be possible. In the suburbs maybee.
Apart from those pain in the a.. modeller remarks, I found your dio beautifull and very well build.
Very nice work
Julien

Suggestions, yes, i have only one! Put one more "r" in the name Lorraine.
And the other one is your background photo is absolutely out of place, as Nancy isn't in high mountain region.
Man, this is gorgeous. I don't know where to start. This is perfect, perhaps to perfect. Did you scratch the towers roof also?
Do you have any overall picture of the dio with base. Your scene is also very clean.
Do you made this buildings from reference pics?
Your river scene is perfect.
I have so many questions, but leave it for now, i need time to digest this.
Incredible

This is an excellant dio! Well thought out and the action is what I would expect. The only suggestion I would make is some of the buildings are too clean perhaps a bit more weathering... ~ personal opinion of course...
The archituecture and the execution of said is very well done! Love the details...
Paul
Edit: Would love to see more photos...

Yannis is one of the best diorama makers in Greece, and he is specialised in WWII and city buildings, that he recreates with absolute accuraccy. You will soon see other works by him and understand what i mean. He is also a specialist in creating from scratch exact reproductions of special vehicles like train stuff, or boat stuff for museum or scientific purposes. I wish step by step he will show us his work here .
Keep safe guys.
Yanni my congratulations once again my friend.

Amazing dio!
Very impressed with the scrathbuilt stuff and the figures, good action poses and excellent camouflage painting!
My only quibble is that the cobblestone street just looks far to clean.
Otherwise excellent work, im very impressed!

Beautiful...and huge! Very nicely done, good consistent action, well painted uniforms. I have to agree taht teh tower looks Russian, though whose to say there would not have been a Russian Orthodox church in you chosen location. Well, maybe Julien who seems to know tha region well.

Julien you are quite right about the bronze spine there is no such thing inside the city of Nancy, but my dio represents an area close to the city. I have seen some old pictures about the Loraine villages and some churches apper to have bronze spines. As for the grass it grows very well in areas nearby rivers.
Thanks for the pictures and comments!

Thanks!
Yes I did scratch built the roof of the tower, using styrene sheet as frames on an octagonal base filled in with milliput. I had some reference pictures as a basic idea but I changed a lot of things to fit them in my scenario.
As for more pictures I have a small problem with my camera so I soon as I fix it I will post more.

Transfering pictures from one site to an other is a bit difficult (and time consuming which is a problem for my friend John).. and since he has a camera problem (making it impossible to post new ones right now )check out some of the "in progress" ones of the dio! ..
You might say "it's all Greek to me"...(maybe because it is :-) )but at least Harry will have a chance to see it too!!
Enjoy
Hope this works...

Yannis,
You're certainly right for the church roof, if you checked it with reference. With a second look, this roof could be french.
Once again congratulations ! you could ask a donation to the armorama member to offer you a new camera, they will certainly give...
Best and welcome

Oh wow, what an inspiring diorama. Speaking from an artistic and hobbyist point of view, this thing is phenomenal. The scratchbuilt buildings are fantastic. Very well executed, and professionally made. Perhaps we would be so lucky to have you share some basic techniques you used to build them...?
The layout of the dio flows very well, and one can almost feel the tension in the air. Nothing but compliments from me. Perhaps a few more pictures would be nice, some with a winder angle so we can appreciate the whole scene...

Yannis,
Great dio!
Love the buildings and the uniforms.
One suggestion. Could you swing the gun around by 90 degrees?
The way it looks now (3rd pic down), the bogies would attach near the river wall and behind the breech (along the firing line). How would the towing vehicle manage to manouver the gun into that position and then detach the bogies?

Beautiful buildings and groundwork. I look forward to seeing the diorama that you a Costas have collaborated on.
Oh, please make getting your camera repaired a priority. I (and I'm sure I speak for everyone here) would just love to see many more photos of this piece and anything else you have
Cheers,
Charles
