Okay, so i tried building one of these a while back, and it went off at a tangent and ended up in the bin, So with the christmas money i recieved i thought i'd try again.
The kit is basic OOB build, The empty shells are from the AFV L/24 ammunition set. They work out roughly to be the right size for spent ammunition for the M16.
anyway, onward with the pictures!
So tell me what you think?
p.s. I've noticed that the right arm seems to have slipped during glueing and has taken a large amount of paint with it. So i'll be fixing that soon.

Nice figure mate.
I like the webbing and packs, the camouflage and dry brushing looks good. Id suggest adding some washes to the hands and face though, they look a bit plain at the moment. Also although the shells look really nice im afraid they are still far to big for the M16!

James, I know they are just ever so big.
but with my "calculations" The shells are roughly 1/14th or so, so its not too big a difference.
I'm probably wrong but.

The shells are way too big, Scott. Almost like shotgun shells. If you look closely, you'll see that they're at least as thick as the rifle barrel! 5.56-mm is a slim babe.
Also, when you're fixing that slipped arm, you might consider doing a hood for the NBC suit. Tamiya forgot that. It's 3-colour DCU on the outside and black or dark charcoal grey inside.

Ah right, cheers david.
I'll add the hood,
I've decided to scrap the shells, new base is being made.
The shells go quite nice with the mcfarlanes military figure i bought the other day.

Scott,
Try and get your hands on some Mission Models .50 Cal Spent Casings. Maki(Mario) measured them and they are the right legnth for spent 5.56mm shells. You can see his figure vignette in features section over on the figure side of the house.
Oh, and he used some in his ACU figure he painted for the box art for Airborne Miniatures.
