Hi guys,
Well it's a premier of sorts for myself..my first ever entry in a campaign on Armorama(Commonwealth in Normandy" and also my first completed attempts at figure painting and diorama building since joining Armorama a year ago or so.
Figures are from Tamiya's British infantry on patrol, the "mad" German sheperd is from an old Dragon kit. What i was trying to portray is the Kings Own Infantry patrolling a so called clear zone amongst the rural pathways in Normandy, accompanied by a stray German Sheperd.
There are a few things that i need to touch up like adding dust pigments to the boots and the paws from the German sheperd.
Hi guys,
Here is a dio that i've been working on and off for a while, the figures are my first ever attempts at figure painting so there is room for some improvement!!The basic storyline as the title suggests clearly is a mad German Sheperd accompanying the Kings Own British Infantry on patrol in a quiet countryside area of Normandy.
Hope you guys like it,there are a few pics..comments and constructive criticism welcome  .
cheers,Shay

Hallo Shay,

This is really well done. Your groundwork is superbe. I like the bird's nest. Very original! Perhaps you pushed a bit on the flowers.

Uniforms are very well painted. I laughed when i saw the coffee cups! Good one.
The faces have some contrast and colour problems. The sandy skin colour makes them a bit strange. As this are your first figures there is certainly room for improvment. I think you should try to replace the heads at least with Gen2 heads and you will notice a lot of improvement and satisfaction only by painting better quality heads. You can't paint details on a head if there are none. The last man on the left side has a better quality head and really looks better than the other ones.

Good job, perfect on the groundwork, for a first one, Respect

Cheers
Claude

Graet dio!

I would hate to meet the bird that laid those eggs though!

Very nice Shay. I really like everything about it. It's a very serene looking moment in an otherwise frightening era. It's like the saying..."long stretches of serenity and boredom punctuated by moments of extreme terror and panic..." This is definitely one of those quiet moments in warfare. Your diorama makes me wonder what's just down the path a bit....

Very nice indeed.

Hello Shay

I want to compliment you on this diorama.

Everything goes well together, the composition, groundwork and figures are all sound. Could be an improvement (as Claude pointed out) on facial tones and fleshwork, but otherwise an outstanding effort.

Good work!!

Regards
Garth

Wow, your groundwork has blown me away. Excellent work on those meadow-like wild flowers, really impressive. Must have taken ages!
Congratulations on an excellent dio.

HI there

What a nice scene! I really like this one. Good work.
Great work on the path, and the tree is very nicely done.
Nice touch with the flowers - sort of breaks off the rather dull colors.
Cheers

Love it mate! Lots of nice little touches like the nest and the dog. The groundwork is excellent. With the flowers it does give it that summer lane feel to it. Definitely one to be proud of! Considering thats your first dio its excellent!

Shay

Nice to see this finished.

Claude - no way are they Coffee Cups - these are English Fighting Men - from the King's Own - they are Enamel mugs, tea drinking, for the use of. And a very nice touch

Andy
