Hi all,
Just wanna share with you my first ever figure. It is a WOLF miniature with a replacement ULTRACAST head to make the figure appear more youthful. He is a 12th SS Hitlerjugend tank commander and is hereby called Friedrich.
Many thanks to my brother-in-law Jon Matthews (s1lv3r) for taking the pictures for me, and sparing his time.
Note the scar on his left cheek.
He was painted with Vallejo model colour, and the bottom of his trousers were weathered with Mig Productions pigments.
There are some obvious omissions ie: I have run out of red paint and cannot therefore finish the ribbon on the tunic.
Hope you enjoy my poor effort.

Nice looking figure!
I particularly like the camo pants. Are they accurate? I haven't done much research on uniforms, but I think they look quite good

Hola!
Nice Job!! I love the camo work, very nice! Only pointer would be that the hair looks very yellow Maybe try giving it a wash of burnt umber or Vandyke brown oil paints

That looks really good. Did you have to drill out the neck to put the other head on? Have only worked on old Tamiya figures that have the heads attached and was just wondering. Also, what color vallejo did you use for the hair and boots?
Thanks, GR8Voyager

Thanks Anders, I will add some wash to tone it down a little. Looks worse online though. Also the highlights have not come out as well.
Gr8voyager: I used red leather washed over with black. The hair is lemon yelow toned down with grey (but not enough obviously hehehe) The WOLF figure comes with separate head so no work needed there.
Thanks very much all..........I feel humbled.....

Hi Mate, If this is your first figure then you have done very well. As said before the camo pants are particularly good. I have shyed away from camo up to now but will have to try it sometime
Keep up the good work, thanks for letting us see it, and WELL DONE.
Roger

Excellent! Never would have guessed this was your first figure.
Maybe rub some graphite or pastel in to the belt buckle to tone it down a bit. Bit, you have done very well on the face. Congrats :-)

The painting looks excellent for a veteran painter, let alone a first timer. The camo pattern, as others have noted, is superb! The coat has a nice leather like sheen, very good. Very nice flesh tones. To me, the head looks a little small. Maybe it's the turtle neck that gives the impression of his head being underscale.
Keep up the good work...did you say this was an afternoon's work? Holy Schmoly!

Figure looks great. My first attempt at German camo wasn't nearly as good as yours. Keep up the great work.

Thank-you very much for the comments. I read up on figure painting from the internet and just followed the articles step-by-step.
The Vallejo paints dry incredibly quickly allowing me to finish the painting in one sitting, except for the washes and weathering......
I am pleased with a first effort, but to be honest have been making models for many years so it is easier to go from one subject to another.
The hair will be toned down as will the buckle.....graphite...good idea!...done.
The trousers were copied from ones on the internet with alittle artistic license.
Thanx again guys...

Hi Desert Fox,

Dont be so hard on your self. I agree with the other guys.... the camo trousers look amazing and the leather look on the jacket is likewise, outstanding. From photographs its hard to judege faces as they always seem to have a shine (which is recommended by a lot of the better known figure painters) but as Anders said the hair does look a bit bright.
If you were a figure painter with years of experience, you would kick yourself after getting comments like this but as its your first......... take a bow!

Kind words indeed guys thanks very much. I'm humbled.
Just shows what good references can do and a little attention to detail.
I have toned down the hair now and will enter him into the WW2 figure campaign i think.
