Still a bit of a surprise to see Chieftains and FV432s relegated to being targets....

Hi David,

I see stripped out Mk1 and Mk2 432s' there. Unfortunately the Army has to get it's parts from somewhere.

The Government won't supply them...

Very interesting pictures. Hopefully the one with the big red cross on it but with a lot of holes was to teach folks what not to shoot at . . .

Hi David,

What range was the churchill crocadile on, i have a friend that requires some parts for a rebuild that hes doing at an museum and he keeps asking me if i know any hard targets that are on the army ranges through out the uk.

Your help would be much apreacharated in this subject.

Cant remember what part it was, but I thinking it was for the Centurian tanks. One of the two gears would wear out in a unit (unit being whichever sub-assembly it was), so the whole unit would be replaced and the old one thrown out with a good gear still in it. Us Canadians used to raid the trash or other countries to get that spare gear . Some years after, we would raid tanks that had been relegated to the firing range, but were usually only allowed on AFTER the gunnery practice lol. So yep, definately take the parts where you can get them!
