I usually by all my diorama building and house's from Verlinden or Custom Dioramics.
.... However I scratch the interior beams, stud's and supports using bass wood.
I sometime's make my own debris with joint wall compound ( $4 for a nice size bucket will keep you stocked for a while ). I just add some into a small plastic container ....wait until it dries and then I break it up into different size pieces and dust ( actully you can also scratch your own house's using this method ). Joint Wall Compound and Plaster of Paris can be sculpted, shaped & sanded very easily. I buy mine already mixed. You can also add ACRYLIC PAINT directly into the compound while you mix it and it will dry to color. Then use your own method for weathering.

Personally, I usually go with making them out of Sculpey... I'm more often than not cash deficient, and I can either spent $10 on a 2 lb. box and make quite a few buildings or cough up the same amount for one corner wall from VLS... Besides, I can basically personalize my buildings that way and not wind up with a "cookie cutter" section someone else has bought and built; Also, I prefer to use .015 Evergreen sheet and round toothpicks for scratchbuilding tables, chairs, etc., and popsicle type craft sticks for wood flooring and support beams.
BTW, Sculpey is also great for simulating bricks and rubble, too...

Ola Cartridge
For all my buildings, walls, leveling of debris, , mounts, Dio bases whatever I use Styrofoam. It`s a blue type of foam with a very big density. Every detail you can scribe in with a pen ( like bricks, cracks and such stuff) Really great stuff.
I have here a link to an article here on this site that goes aboutt the whole story of my winter diorama campaign dio that I did here hope it is of some help.
Disrtaction step by step
Hope it is of some help but the Foam is really the ideal stuff to make such things.

What kind of house are you looking for?? What style? If you dont want to build it your self you can send me a picture or a sketch and I can probably do it for you. I am starting a buissness that has that kind of stuff. I can probably do it cheaper than you can get it at a place like Verlinden and Custom dioramatics. PM me if you are interested and I will give you an e-mail address you can send the pic or scetch too.

I build most of my own building nows.. far cheaper and more fun in the long run. Take a look at the artilce I posted on Buidling a Diorama from Scratch at the following link here in armorama:

Every building you see here was made from foamcore, styrofoam, and some plaster or plastic sheet... even the road is scratchvuilt! Enjoy
