..I don't get around to finishing many kits and this is still missing some detail parts. ..comments, criticisms gratefully accepted ....I was trying to do a white wash finish following Alex Clark's techniques in his Osprey book .. but I don't know ..this just looks messy to me (nothing to do with Alex I hasten to add...) ..I've over-done it really, haven't I ..and my rust and mud seems to have got mixed up...

Gday Neil
I wouldn't be so hard on yourself...
Hard to discern from the pics provided, but it looks quite ok as much as I know of German stuff... (then again, it is a whitewash and rust, hardly a specifically German thing ) Maybe I could be more scathing with some close up pics?
One thing though would be more mud sprayed /splattered around, especially in winter weather?
Cheers

Doesn't look TOO messy, could do with some exhaust filth at the back end.

..yes 72nd scale..the pics are blown up which probably makes the 'mess' look more prominent... exhaust filth ? yes looking a bit bare there ..why not....thanks for taking the time to comment guys

thanks ! ...

..it sorts of feels like cheating though...I mean its easier to produce a distressed, weathered finish like this than an absolutely pristine one like Sven's ..isn't it..?

It should look messy. If you look at many pics they don't look very pretty in winter schemes. I think we as modelers tend to be too artistic esp. with winter camo.

I think you your model looks great.

I think it looks really good Neil !!!

About the appearance, I feel that it looks realistic and since
the guys driving these beasts weren't any artists when it came
down to putting on the cammo or as in this case doing a white
wash it often looked very sloppy. Although some panzers where
equipped with a compressor and airbrush those things quickly
went out the window to save space and make room for extra
ammo instead. So the cammo or whitewash was applied with
anything from branches from trees to the crews own hands...

Regards

It looks very good - especially considering the scale.

The roadwheels should be a little more muddy on the "top" of the wheel as well as the buttom. Now it only seems like the lower half of the wheels have mud on them.

Good job on the white wash. It could easily be more scruffy.

Thanks for sharing
