I'm going to be doing a small Afrika Korps dio. Most of the figs I've seen have uniforms with shorts and rolled-up or short sleeves, I've also seen some I like with long pants and long sleeves. Was it common to have some crew wearing full clothing with others wearing shorts? If so, would those in full uniform be more likely of a higher rank?

Temperatures in the desert that topped a hundred degrees during the day also dropped into the 40's Fahrenheit every night, so long pants were not uncommon at all.

Thanks Gerald. Would it have been common to see some crew in shorts and short-sleeved shirts with others in full uniform (pants and long or rolled-up sleeves) at the same time?

An quick answer to that is yes!, in theatres such as North Africa uniform regulations were relaxed because of lack of supplies and of course the intense heat that men had to fight in, but also consider that we are all individuals some of us will wear shorts on hot days others will happily go about in trousers etc. i would'nt worry about uniforms in that situation. Its better to try and get a good match of figures body language so they look and feel like they are in the same battlezone rather than wearing the same uniform.
