The Italeri kit isn't that old. The A6 parts are only about 10 yrs old. The hull is from the '80s, but it still stands up well to newer kits. It is actually pretty accurate and a nice kit. Sure it can use some tweaking, but it builds up well and looks great when done. As I said in the other post, I hope this comes out soon. We seem to be getting lots of announcements from new companies but have actually seen only a couple come to fruition. By the way, there should be no hyphen in the nomenclature. It is simply an M109A6 Paladin Howitzer. It is not an SPG, Self-Propelled Gun. A gun has a flatter trajectory and generally a longer range. Howitzers fire at higher angles and relatively shorter ranges. The 155mm Paladin fires about 30km whereas the old 175mm M107 SPG could fire out to 50+km.

So, was this A6 used in Iraq as it shows in the picture.. without any additions like bar armor and things like that? I like kits that are ready to be used in an Iraq diorama.. as is OOB Hisham

Yes, this one can be an Iraq Paladin OOB. The M109A6 Paladin was used in Iraq from the invasion in '03 until we pulled out in Dec '11. They never had any bar, slat, or ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) added to them since (once the invasion was over) they supported from FOBs (Forward Operating Bases) or Fire Bases and didn't routinely drive around the countryside and cities where they would be exposed to RPGs and IEDs.
