Before World War Two started the Civil war is Spain was raging with German forces fighting on the side of Franco. With Nazi Germany ranged against the Second Spanish Republic they needed a weapon to tackle the aircraft of the Luftwaffe and their answer was the If-5 horse drawn wagon with Zwillingslafette. Take a look inside to see the offering Ace Models has of this.
Ace Models has a new braille scale kit of the If. 5 horse drawn wagon (Type 36) with Zwillingslafette 36. The If. 5 horse drawn wagon (Type 36) with Zwillingslafette 36 was used during Civil War in Spain when the Germans found that aircraft support was very important in a modern war, and from the other side, every infantry formation learnt the need for an active defence from enemy aircraft. The Zwillingslafette 36 was in the early war mostly wagon mounted and used as an air defence weapon for infantry units on the march. The wagon used was the so called Einachshänger - the If. 5 MG wagon. It was a small trailer used for the specific purpose. It could be either horse drawn or drawn by a small truck. The wagon could be braced by jacks when used in the static air defence role or mounted on the bed of small trucks or on cars.
