A new mobile anti-aircraft gun on the way from CyberHobby, and this time mounted on a vehicle you might not think of.
CyberHobby has announced another new kit coming our way. This time they have mounted a 3.7cm Flak 37 onto a Maultier half track. From the release poster, this looks to be a great looking addition, which will include PE parts and Dragon Magic Track. Unfortunately there is no release date, but CyberHobby.com is taking pre-orders.

If you believe this or not....: There were times serious modellers didn't even consider to to wait for and buy such very basic and simple conversion things and and they never would have bought those for their hard earned bucks... They simply made these themselves...

All true, Ingo, all true! It does look pretty cool, but this is indeed one of those conversions which we could easily do were we to get that Maultier and someone's Flak 37. Personally, I would have figured using the much lighter-weight Flak 43 - but there are a few pics evident showing this - 37 conversion, so... CH can get away with this the same way I'm sure that Dragon will soon be selling us loads of Maultiers with a 2cm Flak 38 plopped in back... they have all the bits in their inventory and there is definitely an eager market waiting to be serviced! = easy route to another bunch of sales. And I'll buy one, too! Bob

Bob, ok, I see your point. Perhaps you don't have to pay for these Cyber Hobby kits as much as I have to here in Germany. Our dealers sell them for over 60€ (which are about US $76 +) and for me this is way too much for a maultier even if the kit is good... Think I will rather buy a Ford Maultier (ICM) and a good FlaK which will cost about 40€...

Ingo; These CH kits get pricey quite fast over here, too. You can get them for a relatively short time at DragonUSAOnline.com at a more-modest initial price - after which, they often become in shorter supply and the prices take off. Of course, it depends on the subject... there have been those which did not hold as much attention and which can still, after years, be had for modest dollars. Others - like that Pz III Tauchpanzer - went and are generally now more costly and hard to come by. By the way... I think this kit is an Opel Maultier - so one could buy the Dragon Opel Maultier kit and add on someone's flak 37. As that Dragon kit is about 45 - 48 USD over here, plus some money for shipping, and the Flak 37 will be likely the Trumpeter kit or maybe a Bronco kit or maybe an older kit... (Dragon does not yet offer a stand-alone Flak 37 kit) You end up with having to buy 2 kits and get them shipped (unless real lucky and you can get them at your local shop - fat chance, but...!). It's going to cost one probably around 70 - 80+ USD over here to get the pieces. So, if CH will sell it all in one box for under 65 - 70 USD, it's probably a deal. One ship-charge, no wait for the other part, etc. Not that I think it should cost that much, but as folks say... It will cost at least what the market (us builders) will willingly pay. Did that Ford Maultier ever sport a Flak in any picture? I'd figure that it could be another 2cm Flak 38 "flak-track"... but until last week I'd never even heard of these smaller Maultier versions ever carrying a 3.7cm Flak gun...! IF it did, that could be a cheaper route then getting the Dragon Opel Maultier. Bob
