Shapeways is a 3D printing company with a very large selection of products , they have everything from small scale models covering all areas of the hobby through to jewellery. In this news article we are taking a look at the Sherman exhaust deflector in 1/35th scale.
I am sure we will be seeing a large number of upgrades starting to appear from 3D printing companies soon, and here is the first I believe item we have covered on Armorama. This first product is an exhaust deflector for late M4 105mm, M4A1 76mm, M4 Composite, M32 retrievers and remanufactured M4's and M4A1's in 1/35th scale. The link in this news story will take you straight to this product as the site is

Now I am confused. After being told I was not charged as it couldn't be done I got shipping confirmation today. Looks like Mike and Shapeways sorted it out Al

I'm looking into getting something from Shapeways. They sell a 1/650 OS2U Kingfisher float plane and I asked if they could do a 1/500 scale (for a Revell Iowa class kit). They replied they thought that would be relatively easy to do and would start on it later this week. If this works out and I get the Kingfishers I'll report my findings back here.

Now wait a minute. Al, did you ever get the part? This was over a year ago... almost coming up on 2 years! Jeff

All, there are thickness limitations. Depending on material its .7mm to 1mm thick with minimum detail .2mm in any direction. Here's a set of wheels I got last night. they do need more cleanup in the tread area Here's some other stuff for another member: I also have more on the way including a Welder (in 1/35 and 1/24 scales, some off road lights in both scales as well. and some 1/35 scale liquid containers.

Here's what I'm getting in a 3D preview I got from Shapeways last night. 9 planes for $8.50(US) plus $4.99 shipping. I should get it by September 1st or so and I'll print post the actual pieces when the come in.

Is that a shipping crate they come in? Do you have to cut them out of all that framing?
AUG 20, 2014 - 03:18 AM
Kinda. And, yes you do. And then clean up each surface before painting or live with the build lines. The crating is requently used on these smal items to permit many items to be printed at one time for a still reasonable cost for the group. There are a number of ways to do it and this designed simply chose to make a crate around the units. Paul
