The second release from new company Takom has been announced and it is a real interesting Russian Objekt.
Without a lot of details at this time, Takom has informed Armorama of what will be their second release, an Objekt 279 in 1/35 scale. This is Soviet Heavy Tank, while being a very interesting looking tank, should make for a great looking model, being the first model of this tank that I know of.

Takom has stated this new kit should be released in August 2013.

Armorama would like to thank Takom International for providing us with this exciting news.

Is this the amphibious tank that the Russians played with?

Not amphibious but supposedly shaped to be nuclear-proof. At 60 some odd tons it would sink. Interesting tank to have though and need to get this and the FT at the same time! ~ Jeff

One Obiekt 279 prototype was completed in 1957 and was planned as 'nuclear-bomb proof'. It had a 130mm gun. The unusual track arrangement was so that the tank could not be blown over by an A bomb blast, and could continue functioning. The design was successful bu too expensive to produce...so off to the circular file.

The track arrangement apparently gives it very low ground pressure for its weight as well. Erik
