Airfix's 1/72 scale Bomber Re-supply Set is now available, and includes an intriguing amount of kit for the price...
Now in stock and available for purchase from Airfix's own web site, this set includes a number of specialist vehicles and equipment, and it's all new tooling. Although they bill the vehicles as "not as glamorous as their flying counterparts" there will be a few modellers here to whom these will appeal greatly. Check out the contents:

  • Standard Light Utility Vehicle 12hp 4x2 'Tilly'
  • either the Bedford MWC or MWD can be built
  • David Brown VIG1 Tractor/Tug
  • Motorcycle - 500CC (BSA M20 maybe?)
  • Maintenance Tower
  • Bowser - 450 Gallon
  • Bomb Trolley - Type C
  • Bomb Trolley - Type F
  • Small Bomb Container (SBC) - with 4lb incendiaries
  • MC Bomb - 1000lb
  • Bomb - 8000lb
  • Step Ladder
  • Bicycle
  • Chocks
  • Fuel Cans

All for £16.99. Being designed to go with their aircraft, note that this set is 1/72, not the usual Airfix braille vehicle 1/76 scale.

But what's the real scale of the set; 1/76th as the older ones or "real" 1/72nd??

Anyone got a 'grow-me' machine? to 1/48th?

This looks like a wonderful set for both Armorama members but also for those of Aeroscale. The set should make a fabulous diorama, with or without an aircraft present. According to a number of other Websites the consensus from those that already have this set is that it IS 1/72 scale. Now, I wonder if the David Brown tractor is the same as the one that came with the Short Sterling bomber or new tooling? Cheers, Jan

From the sprue shots, it looks like the tractor and bomb trolleys are indeed new toolings. I'll have to get me a few of these kits

I have the other kits that relate to this - RAF Refueling - RAF Emergency and Control tower, this should be the final piece that I need to start my Airfield diorama hopefully it is a good enough match scale wise.

flashback47 - Derek, In the past, Airfix kits meant to be displayed with aircraft are usually listed as 1/72 scale and this should/is no different. At the worst, the difference between 1/72 and 1/76 should be minimal and not that discernible to the majority. BTW, welcome to Armorama! Cheers, Jan
