Some very interesting new photo-etched sets are now available from Minor in 1/35 scale for a jeep and German vehicles.
Minor has sent in news of two new photo-etched sets that are a little different, and interesting. The first is a crane set for mounting on a jeep. While not exactly something used in the war, would make for a great post-war conversion. Also announced is an interesting looking German weapon mount. It is shown in a truck, but could possibly be mounted on any flat bed vehicle.

AVM35071 – Front made German Weapon Pedestal

Armorama would like to thank Minor for the update.

I really like that crane. I don't do much with photo-etch but I think I will have to make an exception for that. Thanks Kevin.

I don't know what they based teh crane on, but it look slike it will fail at the point where the horizontal arm attaches. There is nothing supporting it.

To Fail or Not to Fail, That is the Question and so on. I guess it would depend on the load that someone tries to lift. If the angle bars are welded in the joint between horizontal arm and the sloping part then it will support a couple of hundred pounds before starting to bend. With the dimensions used I think the capacity of that "crane" is set by what the attachment in the load bed of the Jeep and the Jeep itself can handle. If you added a similar angle bar from the end of the horizontal arm down to the chassis (to where the tow hook would be) and started lifting a heavy enough load you could probably lift the front wheels off the ground ;-)

1/4 ton jeep, 1/4 ton lift, it's a lightweight. You wouldn't pull an M4 out of a ditch with that!

Sweet, now we just need an Mg 131 or 151 for that Luftwaffe ground unit field mount.
