News in from Revell of Germany is a limited edition release D-Day set.
Revell of Germany has announced that a Limited Edition D-Day set will be on the way in April 2014. The set will include a 1/35 scale LCM3 with Jeep and trailer. While the image does show figures, I have no information as to whether they are included in the kit or not.

Hi John, Nice work. I opted for the early British boat and the later armoured boat used in 1944. It is an old kit missing quite a lot of detail, especially the midsection doors but it is a fun build. Kenny aka Gator did a command version a couple of years ago on Shipwrights which was an interesting build. Most certainly it needs updated. Al

Having just suffered through the agonizing chapter on Omaha Beach and the horrendous conditions there on D-Day in Stephen Ambrose's D-Day, I would be very interested in the "right' Higgins boat kit.

Hi Bill, This site has good information, LCVP and LCAs were used, the Rangers landing form LCAs http://www.shsu.edu/~his_ncp/Omaha.html Al

Thanks, Al. I liked your build and would be interested in possibly the Revell or Italeri kits.

Hi Bill, The Italeri LCVP is a nice kit and U Models do sets of accessories. The LCA was not a nice kit to build, rough and ready and needed a lot of work. I've been hoping Italeri would bring out a new LCA but nothing so far. I think the LCM 3 would be fine for 3rd/4th wave landings, it might clarify that on the link above. Al

HI, Alan, the LCMs went in with the initial wave according to your link, which is a very pithy and data-packed version of the chapters on Omaha I have been reading in Ambrose's book. Italeri have announced a re-release of their LCM kit, so it seems everyone is jumping on the D-Day 70th bandwagon.

Good luck with that... I've been pounding on various manufacturers' doors for completely newly-tooled M8 HMC and M3-series Lights for years. When manufacturers come out with something new that we've all been waiting for, it seems more like coincidence rather than responding to modellers' wishes...

Gidday Alan, yes I think I got the last Fonderie LCA in Australia about five years ago...still have not built it yet as I was hoping a manufacturer would have brought out another. Looks like I might have to use it as a template to scratchbuild another as I wanted one for a Commando raid dio and the other for Rangers at Point Du Hoc... Anyway lets hope a manufacturer suprises us!!!!!!
