An update is in from Takom on the upcoming German civilian car packed to blow.
Takom has sent in news for the German civilian car with gas rockets that is due in May 2014. The update shows the gas rocket and figure included. This looks to be a great set for a diorama set in Iraq or Afghanistan.

This looks very similar to the one already on the market with a figure added and different explosives. Although it would be nice to get a hold of that figure! I have to wonder about the rocket propane tanks.

I'm not an expert on these "home made" bombs, but I do remember a pickup truck that was captured by the police here in Egypt.. and they showed it on TV with "similar" looking propane canisters with things sticking out of them.. so, I don't know how accurate these are, but I also don't think they are totally made up As for the figure, I agree, I wish Takom would release the figures they have with their kits - like the Afghan with the Mexas - in a separate figure set.. but of course, then some people wouldn't buy these kits Hisham

It wouldn't be hard to replicate an IED you could load the boot up with 155 rounds or a mixture of anything that can go bang lower the rear suspension to simulate a loaded to the hilt boot and there you have a serious rendition of a VBIED

Similar in that they are both European autos, but the Dio Park kit was a Mercedes, where as the Takom one is a BMW.

Not really, the DioPark car is a 4-door Mercedes while the Takom one is a 2-door BMW. As for the propane cylinder bombs, they are accurate as well. They were used in Iraq and were relatively effective.

It's on pre-order at HobbyEasy for the end of May.. and for about $27 (without shipping).. pretty good price compared to Diopark's Mercedes! Hisham

Hi Al, the car by Diopark is a Merc while this is a BMW though due to copyright they both call them 'German civilian car' I have the Merc which I have just brought and it is very nice although a bit expensive. We need more modern civilian vehicles in 1/35.

The one on the market (Mercedes) is typically driven by a 60+ year old grandpa with hat on (in the car!), bobblehead dachshund and toiletpaper roll in quilted cover on the rear windows This one (BMW) is typically driven by a testosterone fueled teen/twen with blond(bleached) girl friend, open driver window (elbow out) and a "sound extra loud" end muffler
