False choice there, Christophe I think what most of us would prefer is a kit where someone did a little research before releasing it. Other than some of the problems Scott et.al. have pointed out there's the bullet splash strips along the upper edge of the side plate that shouldn't be there, they'll need to be filed off. Welded joints at the front of the turret added armor, they are not entirely horizontal on the real thing and that may take a little work to correct. The later style of armored "acorn" for the PT-4-7 gun sight is not right for the type, it should have the earlier version with the flip open cover. The tracks are the wrong type, they should be 550mm forged links not the 500mm tracks shown. The drive and idler shown are wrong for the type, though if this is based on the AFVC kit the correct ones (or 'more correct ones') should be provided. Don't get me wrong, all of this can be fixed with additional money and time but at the prices we're already being asked to pay why should we have to put so much effort into making a kit right? Mark[/quote] Remember that even the research can be difficult to get "right". As there were no technical documents or drawing, research is done using fuzzy pictures or at a museum. Thus the picture may be a one-off vehicle or now show the detail. And at the museum, depending on the source of the vehicle, it may have "aftermarket" parts put on it just so they could get it on display. But I am guessing some people know exactly how these companies do their research, as they seem to know everything else.

In this case? That just ain't so. There are a lot of good clear photos and lots of excellent documentation of this particular T-34. All they had to do was look or even ask. Do I know everything? N'ah. But believe it or don't I do know a bit about how at least one company goes about its research and, well, just a little about the T-34 to boot. Mark

Mark, I'm very interested in this model and thank you for taking the time to share some info about the vehicle. Can you tell this non-T34 guy where he needs to go online or what books are out there that show this vehicle and the changes needed to bring it up to snuff?
